Default Paint or no paint?

Coming up on 2 years since I traded up to my 2006 911S cabrio, and still wandering if I should repair the shoddy fender paint job. I purchased it from a dealer in Orlando - Millenia Motors - which claimed all original paintwork and provided Carfax & 3rd party inspection that reported no accidents and original paint via thickness gauge. I certainly did not notice it at the time but a few months later saw slight clearcoat peeling by the window trim edges. Both rear fenders had been been painted over (maybe scratches?), and without removing the stoneguards nor the rear window rubber trim. Totally ****ed, and knowing that dealer would not do anything about it, I had the peeling blended and lived with it until this weekend when I removed the yellowing stoneguards and saw clearly the paint thickness & shade differences.

So I can put new stoneguards (~$200) or repaint ($2000+). The devil in me says repaint but worry that it will still not look 100% and continue to boil over it. Or I can just trade up again and move on. The car is flawless otherwise - mechanically and all - with only typical maintenace and fixes required over the last 2 years.

Looking for suggestions, or fun-poking remarks, But also wanted to finally share my experience with this "dealer" - so beware!

The stone-guard plastic has UV in it that also can make it appear much whiter underneath when removed, when I had mine replaced the guy used the 3M industrial solvent (available at autozone) to remove any residue from the glue, of which there was plenty, once that was done it was invisible almost.

Also when you put the clear on again, it will add more opaqueness and be less noticeable.

If you re-paint you might also be more miserable, as no re-spray will age the same as your original panels, so as the main panel fade, the resprayed panels will not.

I would try removing the film and sanding and buffing the panels, and see what it looks like. If its not good enough I would paint.

It obviously bothers you on an otherwise very nice car. I'd repaint them so you're happy with the appearance too. Odd that both rear fenders were repainted though. Any evidence of a rear impact?
