Foxwell NT520 pro
#17
I have a NT520 Pro with the latest firmware installed. Contrary to Foxwell's online representations, I have not been able to get mine to reset the oil service interval on my 997.1 C2 (it says function not supported or something similar), but I can access the rev report. Interestingly, I can reset the oil service interval and access the rev report on my 997.1 GT3.

Thanks, yep I just need to reset Oil service so I will pick up an iCarSoft instead. I don't need to read the over-rev report.... I know what I did or didn't do... hehe..

I have the iCarsoft POR II and the Foxwell 520 Pro. The iCarsoft will read all the same faults as the dealer. The big difference is "programming" and "coding". The iCarsoft POR II is great at reading faults and clearing them, but there are certain faults that may need to be reprogrammed if a part is swapped out or a function needs to be activated/deactivated. . That is where the dealer has the advantage over the POR II. I purchased the iCarsoft POR II first, but then later realized I needed to be able to program some items as well that the icarsoft is not setup to do. So I got the Foxwell 520 pro so that I could program modules and have a few more features. It's interesting, but there are a few things the iCarsoft POR II does, like clearing the service light on 997 easily, that sometimes the Foxwell has issues with. Then there are times I need the Foxwell programming to pick up where the iCarsoft leaves me hanging. I have not had issues updating software. There are plenty of vids out there that show you how and it's easy.

AWESOME! Just did the update! Thanks for the heads up
Update was labeled with notes "Fix oil reset function for Cayenne and 911 prior to 2010"
How to update:
-basically ... Register at Foxwelltech.com and login
-download "Foxscanner installer software"
-While logged in to Foxwelltech.com, run the Foxscanner installer software that saved an icon on your PC desktop.
-Plug in Foxwell pro via usb cable. Once Foxwell powers up.. SELECT UPDATE MENU BUTTON.. This allows your scanner to be read by your computer
-Foxscanner software instantly reads and recognized your device and shows you what files are available for update.
-Select file to update, wait a couple minutes for download to complete, then hit enter on Foxwell device.

I wrote Foxwell customer support stating I had read conflicting info about ability to clear oil service light and they recommended the 530. Seems like a 520 with the latest and greatest software, much like a 520 after software upgrade?

I have the NT520 Pro and I reset my service reminders on my 997.1 and my Cayenne from new out of the box no problem .. I just took the most recent update the other day easily also. So far the Foxwell has worked really well for me and my friends. It works really well with my 997.1 and ok with my 955 Cayenne S ..does the job for most basic things and a little programming / Coding to boot

Just bought a 520 pro. Seems like a great unit for my 997.1 S. In the limited time I've messed with it, it seems very capable. DME on overrevs is something nice it can do that the icarsoft (at least my buddy's) can not. Only criticism I have is the comm link between it and the car seems very slow. My buddy's icarsoft is definitely faster in my car. Can't explain that, but not a big deal to me.

Just for the fun of it I pulled out my Windows XP machine and downloaded the install software for the new Foxwell NT530. The installer failed indicating that the exe file was not a proper 32-bit file. In the Windows world I only have that old XP machine - have moved to MacOS decades ago and I am not inclined to buy a Windows box for this. They claim their installer supports XP - I think not. I am now looking at other options.
