PDK - clutch and transmission oil change
#16
I got quotes from the same dealer for the PDK oil change that varied from $400 to $1600. I went to a different dealer. I'm now coming up on 120K miles and debating how to handle it ... PDK, transmission, and AWD controller.

The diff fluids and transfer case fluid you can DIY but the trans and the clutch in the PDK need a PIWIS. The problem is I can't find a definitive source on what fluid goes where

I just had my PDK oil changed at Hennessey Porsche here in ATL. Only 33K miles but my TTS is 6 years old now.
$629.00
Worth it to me as I'd much rather not chance something like this to myself.

I have a 2011 GTS that I purchased in December. The dealer had changed the PDK transmission fluid at 33,000 miles just before I bought the car so that was a non-issue. I had 4 liters of Mobilube PTX left over from my 2012 Carrera S with a manual transmission. I decided to have the dealer install the PTX in the differential and gear box. The dealer only charged me 1/2 hour to make the change and washed the car as well. I had to show the tech the two plugs, one for drain and one for installation. Apparently, this isn't a common service but the tech referenced his documents before proceeding. The upper plug required removing a bracket to access. I think I got a very good deal and I know that they used the correct fluid. I still have one liter of PTX left so I'm sure they used the correct amount.

Iirc the front differential also requires 2 different types of oil, one for the pinion gears and a different for the awd controller

My GTS is RWD. The PTX goes into the differential. There are two drain plugs on the passenger side of the car and behind and separate from the PDKtransmission filter. It may very well be called the final drive by Porsche. I'm not familiar with that terminology.

Thanks docdrs. You were right. They did the wrong service. The dealer was not actually sure what service they did and after doing some research they think they changed out the transmission final drive gear oil.
They did not service the controlled AWD which is the two fluids up front. They did offer to do the service that I thought I had done and they were supposed to do. For $465.
I actually found a dealer near me who does these services. To do the controlled AWD fluid change they need 2 fluids, 1l of each and 30-60 minutes of time. I don't think that will even be close to $465.
Or I may DIY if I can figure out how to jack up my car level.

I've been working on this with the help of others (thanks for the input dgjks6). I've compared friends' receipts with part numbers. I've done the same for receipts posted here and elsewhere. I've come to realize clerical errors occurred on my receipt, obfuscating the matter. There are also changes in part numbers, obsolescence, oils for LSD or not LSD, Mobil and Shell numbers, 1 liter and 20 liter numbers, and too many other misleading things to go over completely. None-the-less, below is my synopsis of the needs for the different drives ... four chambers (no located fifth chamber for AWD versions) needing four different oils, although it would appear that the front differential can (according to some, and not according to others) take the same oil as the PDK gearbox.
NOTE: I generally work from my phone. I am doing this on my computer, but am not sure if the photos I took today will show up on a cut and paste from a WORD doc. If not, I will post them below this from my phone ... assuming I don't end up with a size issue. Here goes, and please please please please please correct me if any of what follows does not seem correct ...
Drive Train Fluids …
There are four chambers that require oil –
1. The PDK wet clutches connect motor power to one or the other gear shaft. This hydraulic oil is in the transmission chamber toward the motor. This requires 5.2 liters of Porsche part number 000-043-207-29 (also known as Pentosin FFL3). This number is for a one liter bottle. This oil is in the transmission chamber toward the motor. The actual amount of oil used is dependent upon whether the pan was replaced or not. This oil should be changed every 60K miles or 6 years. The pan contains a filter pad and should be changed every 120K miles or 12 years. The pan is plastic and is not re-useable once removed. Early cars had a problem with the drain plug and may require changing during the first service. Changing this oil requires a PIWIS computer to cycle the pumps at specific oil temperatures to get a full fill. There is a report that if you jack the car up on the left side you can replace the amount of oil you removed without it running out of the drain plug. This may also require cycling through gears as the car is running (and getting the oil up to temperature). I’d use extreme caution as this is a very expensive transmission to replace.
2. The PDK gearbox includes the two gear shafts, the differential for the rear wheel drive, and the transfer case to transmit drive to the All Wheel Drive Controller that is attached to the back of the front differential. This gear oil is in the transmission chamber toward the front of the car. This requires 2.95 liters of Mobilube PTX Formula A (SAE 75W90) GL 4.5. Three different Porsche part numbers may be listed which confuses the matter. There is a Shell Porsche part number 999-917-546-00, but this is not recommended for cars with LSD. The Mobil Porsche part number is 000-043-305-48 for a 20 liter can and 000-043-305-49 for a one liter bottle. This is recommended for cars with LSD. The Shell number now lists as obsolete. This oil should be changed every 120K miles or 12 years. There is a simple drain plug on the bottom of the transmission (to the right side, do not drain the clutch oil from the plastic pan by accident) with a fill plug on the left side toward the front of the car.
3. The All Wheel Drive Controller adjusts power to the front wheels. It is not clear to me that the power to the rear wheels can be reduced. This oil is in the rear chamber of the front differential. This requires .9 liters of Porsche part number 000-043-303-00 that has since been obsoleted and replaced with 000-043-305-40. This oil should be changed every 60K miles or 6 years. There is a simple drain plug on the bottom of the case with a fill plug on the right side toward the middle of the unit. Do not mix this up with the front differential chamber.
4. The front differential drives the front wheels. This gear oil is in the front chamber of the front differential. This requires .9 liters of Mobilube PTX 75W90 gear oil Porsche part number 000-043-204-20 which has been obsoleted. Motul has an oil by this part number, but it indicates 75W140. Fuchs also lists this number indicating 75W90. Sunset Porsche lists 000-043-204-20-SP which appears to be the correct oil (Mobilube PTX 75W90). It also appears that the same oil for the PDK gearbox can be used. This oil should be changed every 120K miles or 12 years. There is a simple drain plug on the bottom of the case with a fill plug on the right side toward the front.
NOTE: There is some confusion about the final front wheel drive (transfer case) and whether that is indeed a part of the PDK gear oil chamber or not. It does not appear to me that there is a fifth chamber.
Availability of the above –
Note: Sonnen Porsche on-line has proven to be inexpensive (comparatively) and they offer a pick up option at their Mill Valley location to save on shipping costs. While I live nearby, I have no affiliation. You may find better deals elsewhere.
PDK clutch oil requiring 5.2 liters (000-043-305-13) is $19.00 per quart at Sonnen.
PDK gear oil requiring 2.95 liters (000-043-305-49) is $26.98 a quart at Sonnen.
All Wheel Drive Controller oil requiring .9 liters (000-043-305-40) is $36.71 a quart at Sonnen.
Front differential oil requiring .9 liters from Fuchs (75W90) at $16.60 per quart or from Sunset (000-043-204-SP) at $30.11 per quart

Wow, thanks for this Wayne!!
So items #1 and #2 are applicable to all PDK equipped cars, and this definitive answer is what I was looking for when I started this thread.
The pan for item #1 will need changing anyway at the 12-year or 120k miles mark.

FWIW, here's what I paid down in the South Bay in 2017:
Note that their standard labor rate at the time of the PDK service was $225/hour.
