Alarm randomly going off

Alarm randomly going off
I had this issue yesterday. 30 seconds after locking the car the alarm is triggered. It can be closed or convertible, doesn't matter. If you leave it open the car closes by itself and the alarm goes off 30 seconds later. The only way I was able to correct the problem while I take the car to the shop, was by connecting the battery charger that goes into ythe cigarette lighter. But, what is the problem with these cars?

Mine does that ever so occasionally unless I turn of the internal motion sensor (click the alarm button a second time just after it locks.
The battery charger fix might indicate your battery has some age. How old is it? How often do you drive? When not driving do you have the tender connected? In other words, how many charge cycles has the battery endured?

I don't drive the car very often. However, when I know that the car is not going to be driven for more than a week, I always connect the battery tender. The original battery never failed, but I changed it about a year ago. I left the battery charger connected since yestarday and disconnected about two hours ago and seems to be OK. When I called at the dealer to find out what to do, they didn't have a clue about this issue. My only guess is that the battery had not enough charge........but what does this has to do with the alarm?
Thanks so much for your help!!

Mine has done it it once in a moontime in the last 3 years only when locked..never heard the radio could do it but that is suspect along with the interior light....I just went out for a spin pretty warm out would the fan trigger it?? In the past also had the issue when putting the windshield sun screen always thought that something there triggered it

So even with the top closed, the alarm still goes off? Could be a bad sensor. Is there anything installed the car? One fellow had a similar issue which turned out to be his ipod.

my C4S has nothing installed and I have it since new... I had the issue of the radio kicking in by itself which they tell me could be a bad ground(haven't tested it yet) so I always put the volume down and turn off of the radio just in case when I park the car
After like 9 months I just happened today twice after a drive and it went off a few mins after I parked it ...left it unarmed.
I have a little soccer ball hanging from the rear view mirror would it be possible the fan shakes the car a bit and the ball starts moving enough for the infrared to kick in?

New Alarm unit on order from Porsche $247, plus shipping. Not exactly cheap, but not much of a choice either. Should be here in a few days and will do the DIY install. BTW, has anyone noticed battery drain when these things fail? My battery voltage seemed low this morning after sitting a couple days. Was right at 11.9v - 12.1v. Yes, my battery is fine. Replaced 8 months ago. Is there a fuse I can pull to keep this from draining while I wait for the replacement unit?
Thanks

mine was the opposite. When my battery was on its way out, the alarm started tripping out. When I replaced the battery, no more issues with alarm.
