Default How often do you clean your engine bay.

My engine bay looked like hell so decided to give her a good wiping today. Thinking maybe I will do this with every oil change while the oil is draining out.

How often are you guys cleaning your bays....

Maybe a few times a year. Generally when I polish/wax. Just a hand wipe down and detail with 303 or Adams In & Out spray. It does not get nearly as dirty as my previous 964.

I do mine with every oil change (2X per year) - since I keep up with it, only takes 20 - 30 minutes tops - and a good opportunity to check everything out.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it, but do any you guys use a Gunk type engine cleaner on these cars?

Every time I wash my car, I take ten minutes to wipe down the engine bay. It's not concours clean but it is very presentable.

Yes. Good to have an engine cleaner/degreaser to spray on a rag and wipe down the built up dirt. Griot's Garage has a nice engine bay cleaning kit .

This. Water is going to drip inside and it takes just a few minutes to pop the cover and thoroughly clean and dry everything you can reach including the cover underside and weatherstrip areas.

I've used the original Gunk for the past two decades including my three 997's. Cover up the intakes with plastic bags, spray it on, let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse. Probably around once a year and works great. What do you have against it? I never had a problem with it on a variety of sports cars.

Four season, DD.
Every other month? Or as needed.
A clean engine bay, is a sign of a sick mind.
Or so said, my Dr.

Never it 127K miles.

I pulled out some tools, all ready to attack it... but... now way. First, I could only screw something up. B, it is hopeless... I drive my car on dirt roads... totally wasted effort.

Peace
