Flying in, driving from Boston to Chicago
Hi all, I'm finally doing it. I'm buying a 2009 C4S Cab on Friday and driving it home to Chicago this weekend. I will be flying in and driving home through Massachusetts and New York state as well as northern Ohio to get home. wondering if there are some scenic routes or roads that are Porsche worthy to take that aren't too far out of the way. The wife wants to stop at Niagara Falls and I'm open to that but could be talked out of it if there were compelling reasons to go elsewhere. Anyways just looking for any must see/do things on the way.
Thanks all
Thanks all

Drove from NYC to Chicago when moving. Avoid the Ohio interstate.. it was the most boring leg of the journey. PA was the highlight. Take the tunnels through the mountains/hills of PA. You wont regret it.

I think we'll be taking more of a northern route through New York state through Rochester. Pretty much through I90 the whole way unless someone has a better Idea. This is the shortest distance according to Google maps I don't know how much of the Ohio interstate we can avoid. I made hotel reservations in Cleveland for overnight.

Thanks for all the suggestions and tips for the drive home. There's a chance I may go south on I80 through Pennsylvania. Would that be a better ride? Looking for some scenic byways roads that the car would enjoy. Flying from Chicago to Boston I could see most of the terrain along the I90 corridor and it looked meh until getting into Massachusetts.
The only reason to go the I90 route is to go to Niagara Falls which the wife wants to do. She says if there was a good reason to go the other way she would want to but it would have to be compelling. All I know is Ohio and western New York looked pretty boring from 35,000 feet.

Road trip
Did Burlington Mass to Chicago in CPO Macan Turbo on 7/13. 14 hrs. 53 mind. Avg. 78 mph , 23.3 mpg. Book in advance the Inn at Turkey Run in Pa. Cleveland a stretch. Mass and upstate NY aok visually and Pa nice. Otherwise dull and glad to get home. Bring your radar detector. Safe trip.

Check out Mount Greylock in Western MA (Adams, MA). There are some nice roads north from the Mass Pike that gets you up there. When you are ready to leave, you are about even with Albany so you can now take some back roads over to NY to get onto the NY Thruway. Upstate NY driving is actually pretty nice. Not as boring as it looked from the plane. Lots of rolling farmland. Not flat and boring like Nebraska. I found driving in Western PA very boring as you are driving through forest for much of the time and you can't really see anything other than trees.

I picked mine up in DC. Wife and I made a long weekend of it. We spent the night at a nice resort near the Frank Lloyd Wright "Falling Water" house. It was just a couple of hours south of Pittsburgh. So we got on I-80 near there. It's hilly and wooded til you get to the west side of OH, then farms.

Thanks for all the tips everyone but I walked away from the car. I will be flying back tomorrow afternoon. Unfortunately I'm out travel expenses for two and the cost of a PPI but I guess that's life. I think the fly and drive thing is great if it works out but not so good if the car isn't in the condition as negotiated. After committing time and resources for the car I was told more or less take it or leave it. I checked in with the airline right after.
