How much?

I'd probably be convinced if someone offered me what I paid for it, in an easy "dealer will cut a check, no questions asked" fantasy scenario.

That is exactly what I think as well. In my case, I would need something like 200k more to get what I really want which is a 356A coupe done by Rod Emory, or one of those gorgeous things made by the guys at The RSR Project. Don't see it happening any time soon unfortunately.

No thanks!
A dealer offered me $44k in trade for my '12 guards red Targa 4 with 62k miles 2weeks ago. I thanked him and haven't thought about it since. Was sorta looking at a '16 Targa 4S with 22k. No mas!

The new ones are getting a bit bulky for my taste, and I don't like all the electronics taking over the dash. But then, I went for my 2011 C2S 6sp. Bought it sight unseen over the phone, so I'm a bit prone to impulse. Couldn't be happier by the way. I was at the dealer earlier in the week for some warranty work and they had a gorgeous GT3 RS 4.0 on the show floor, they had just gotten from HQ in Atlanta. Of course it was sold, probably before it even arrived. Not that I could afford it anyway. Never say never I guess.

I’ve thought about this question a few times, and the main problem is what car could I possibly buy that would be better than my current car for a similar amount of money? To me, the answer is none.
I’m still madly in love with my car after 3 years of ownership which is something that has never happened before. I still turn around to look at it every time I walk away from it.

The voices on this forum obviously represents a small fraction of the market place but may still be an indicator. There's been a lot of of posts lately by people looking for 997s's, frustrated by the lack of inventory. Stopped by the local dealership last week. Not one single 997 on the used lot but plenty of 991's.

You may be able to get mine when my son is done with it, unfortunately, he's only 10, so it might be a while.

When I bought my one owner, 2011 C2S 6 sp, 18k mi, in 2016, the salesman said "There may have been as few as 100 C2S 6 sp. coupes sold in the US in 2011. One of our associate dealerships was beating down our door for this car. Hang onto it and you will be well rewarded".

Speaking of value. Does it matter if I don't have the actual dealer receipts from all the maintenance visits from previous owners? Carfax shows the visits very well. I would have to call the two dealers and ask for records to be faxed. How important is that to a Rennlist type buyer?

It seems that Porsche dealers are mailing offers to anyone who has had their car serviced there.
Yes the offers are low-***** as much as 10k for profit on potential trade in plus whatever they make
on a 2018. The strategy is two-pronged: fill a dearth of decent used 997 whose price has stabilized
and in some cases gone up plus sell new cars.
Good luck to them!

I would want them. The trouble with dealer maintained cars is that they are more reluctant to share prior customer receipts, citing privacy concerns; and they are less likely to expend the effort to redact the records. Still, if you are a buyer, get the seller to get those records beforehand, at least for the period during which he owned the car. If a dealer is selling, try to condition the sale on getting the records. Carfax is a marketing tool, and really nothing more. I would bnot rely on it for service history on my car. Not saying it is wrong, but incomplete at best. Many shops do not even input into it.
