Richmond is actually First Settlers Region. Couple of good shops are Lufteknic and Delta V Motorsports. I use Delta V for my tech inspections, tire mounting and alignments and wouldn't hesitate to have them do work that is over my head although I prefer to wrench on my own car. Welcome to Richmond and the South...you're going to love it here.

Thanks man, I'm also decently handy but its good to know that there is a local "tech" stop! I used to live in Charleston SC and its good to get back below the MD line!

You would be in good hands at either of those shops. I've never used Lufteknic but plenty of guys in PCA have and swear by them. The guys at Delta V have been very accommodating and have been able to get me in on very short notice to tech a couple of times so I'm a fan. I rarely make the breakfasts this time of year...always on the go...but if you are going to a PCA breakfast or event let me know and I will look for you. I'm headed to Summit Point this weekend to run with the Potomac guys.

I highly recommend Perception Motor Werks in Powhathan. Worth the ride out there. Added benefit is there is a ethanol-free gas station about a mile away (Adams Oil); their pure gas 93 is great for our cars!

+997 for Lufteknic.

They did a thorough PPI on my 997 as well as a minor service and a few odds & ends.

~4,500 miles (and a couple of weeks!) later, I had her back in CA and she's been perfect ever since!

Thanks for the recommendation - any upcoming events in the area?

I live about a mile from Lufteknic and have used them for PPI and IMSB and clutch replacements. I have also used Delta V for some tire mounting in the past. Euro Classics in Midlothian is also the local Porsche dealer, haven't had my car serviced their but have often visited the parts department.

If you are in PCA, both First Settlers and Shenandoah Regions have a couple events coming up.

Tomorrow (August 4), we have a drive up to Devil's Backbone Brewery.

August 26 there is a picnic a The Market at Grelen (Somerset, VA)

September 8 is a two hour fun run from Midlothian to Waterview, VA.

All the above activities are on this link: http://shn.pca.org

There is also a small group of Porsche owner's that do spirited fun runs a couple times a year. Most of us are PCA members, but the run is not a PCA event.
