Nice backstory to your 997 ownership. The car looks great and what a fun drive home.

I've done two short road trips for car purchases before, a BMW Z4 coupe about 300 miles away and an r129 SL500 I just picked up about 250 miles away. Both were just the right amount of travel for a fun day trip. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a car in another state and turn it into a weekend trip (or longer). Congrats on your purchase and welcome! Silver Porsches are beautiful.

Thanks for all the kind words, everybody. Silver is a classic color, and there's really not a lot of 911s in Denver so it still stands out. The first car I ever bought new was silver (2005 Acura RSX-S) - I've always loved the color.
Got a booster seat installed in the back yesterday and took my 4 year old to/from daycare today. Now he wants every ride to be in daddy's "magic" car. Hopefully I'll be able to oblige. ;-)

Ayyee, my first brand new car was an 02 RSX-S. Loved that car. It went through many phases of mods and my stupidity. Cams, Turbocharging, different cams, bigger turbo, and still ran like a champ when I sold it.

Congrats from a fellow Coloradan on both the car and the anniversary! Sounds as though you've been after a 911 for quite a while; must feel a little surreal to now have it parked in the garage? I know it was for me... One of those 'pinch me' moments...
Recently did a 3k trip in my car as well, and can attest that these cars do a phenominal job in killing bugs! Road trips seems to be the perfect opportunity to let these cars stretch their legs...
