Default Anyone use Bilstein B6 and a lowering spring?

Installed B6 struts and Eibach springs with 30mm drop. Buttoned up my fronts and springs are loose enough to hand turn as the sit in strut fully bolted up, on jack stands.

Not it sure what the hell I’ve done as nobody said B6 and Eibach lowering springs are a nono. I see now at Bilstein.com that B6 is recommended for stock OE springs.......

anyone use this strut and lower their Carrera simultaneously with non-disastrous results?

PLEASE ADVISE!

There's a difference between the car down on the ground with suspension loaded up vs. car up in the air on jackstands, no wheels and suspension otherwise at full droop. Have you put the car down on the ground yet?

Tomorrow. Rears are easier for sure once you get the hang of moving the carrier around

I recently had Eibach springs installed on my 05 C2 and I chose to go with the B8 dampers instead of B6. Bilstein's bumph says that B8 is for lowering springs and B6 for OE springs.

Yes I saw this same spec long after I bought them. I saw it AFTER installing three of them! Oh well.......if they are not OK it’s going to be new B8 this week.

Most people lower their cars with just the springs which are B4 I think. With B6, it shouldn't be any problem. I just bought B8 because I read the details. Otherwise I would've also got B6.
You will only see the full result after getting the car off the jack stands. Moreover, the springs will take a few days to settle.

I'd suggest some patience.. For all you know, it might just turn out to be a pleasant surprise

I have B6's and they are suppose to run at that same ride height as stock B4s. B8's would have required a lowering spring setup. Not sure any of this would have cause things to come loose but I'd switch out to B8s if you want to lower your ride height.

Talked with a tech at Eibach who is the main help rep. He said doubtful it would cause an issue and that lower spring height overall and the rate of spring no doubt might move a bit when NOT under load. Wheels on the ground is a totally different story. Ofc we shall see......

Well your eibach springs are shorter than stock - which is why you got them. Hence they will be looser than the stock springs when fitted with the car up on jack stands.

Most coilover systems have this issue - that is why they have the low rate 'helper' springs added to give a bit of tension when the car is up on stands or when the inside is unloaded in cornering.

Exactly what the tech lead help line told me at Eibach today. Same exact example.

After dealer torqued all my suspension components I now have a clunk up front. Not sure how to diagnose the clunk. Perhaps B6 and a lowering spring isn’t a happy marriage? Has anyone gone through troubleshooting front end clunk? I shall search......

Does the clunk only happen when you are turning? That's probably the upper spring mounts, when you turn the springs get twisted and the upper mounts can clunk when they move.

I’m driving around right now just to see when it does it and I get some pops when turning sharply as I swerve and avoid bad pavement and bumps everywhere, yet others I hear over uneven washboard pavement.

I just verified with Bilstein USA tech help that the B6 and a lowering spring IS NOT an issue at all. They see this all the time. Likely something connected to the wheel carrier is not right. I’m not certain Porsche heard me when I asked for all the items attached to the wheel carriers up from be checked.

Did they test drive it? Either way you should bring it back and have them drive it and make the same turning inputs.
