Coming from relatively normal cars (American stuff, Porsche 930, etc.) to a CGT was prob a jump for him. Even Jay Leno lost it in his Carrera GT albeit on a track...
Bingo! He was also in Bob Riggle's Hemi when it flipped...on the track.

Indeed. Jay was only going in a mostly straight line. A local guy drives his CGT regularly, so I know they aren't the death trap they have been called.

Public Service Announcement

Safeplace, Snowflake crowd should not, I repeat should not own a car that is scary fast. While inputs can control the speed of these death traps Snowflakes have shown little selfcontrol. Therefore "scary fast" cars must be avoided.

Brought to you by your local liberal college where your education is paid for by those who work so you do have too

Wait are we talking about this crash or Roger Rodas, he was a very talented driver with a resume more than capable of driving a CGT.

If I had the money I would love to risk my life owning a car like that, but that probably will never happen. Accidents happen and people do stupid things. We will never know what happened in either of the wrecks most likely. I just pray the families and friends left behind can somehow be comforted by a loving God in their losses.

Default Just sayin'

From my perspective, it's both sad and an example of poor judgement. Sad for family, friends, and maybe his patients. I wish I had the driving skills of some of you, but I don't. I could easily get myself into a scary situation (at least I have Cocoa leather, just in case), but feel less likely to do so as I grow older.

As a liberal arts professor (Psychology) whose salary is paid by you hard workers (Paid 32K after selling my '88 for twice what I paid, so you didn't buy me a 100K car), I feel obligated to try to pay you back. I assume what you meany by:

If you remember, that BMW M5 left the runway, went airborne, twisted sideways, and was cleaved in half when it struck a tree.

All very sad news.

There are lessons here for all of us.

# 1. Know your car.
# 2. Know your limits.
# 3. Avoid having 'friends' at all costs. Sooner or later you'll have to defend the untenable.

Sad. I hate seeing poor judgement accidents.
But three times the legal speed limit? Really? On a ramp, on a curve? On a ramp, on a curve, that is local to you, and you've been on 10,000 of times before?
I'm more sorry for the family, kids and patients.
I remember my wife yelling at me to drive faster en route to hospital when her water broke.
It was a fine line, of fast and fast enough. 15 years ago, and she's still bringing it up.
