Default 997 maitnenance/upkeep advice

hey guys,

I bought my car last year right before the big Huricane in Texas,, it was a great deal, I enjoyed it until season ended, and I've been driving it for a month now that the weather got nice

car has rock chips all over front, but mechanically seems sound, no weird noises (occasionally over large bumps - I believe because of springs and shocks) - and rides well (I have experienced occasional "won't go into 1st gear" but its extremely rare)

now its been fine but I understand it will require attention. I have put on solid 8k miles on the car since buying it, including my trip from Texas to NY.

what would you recommend I do first? I feel like the car is due for an oil change, some coworkers advised to change oil before storing the car for winter, and again when taking it out after storage?

anything else? car is about to hit 78k miles

only thing I did so far is put on BBS E88's on it and its been so much fun! thank you for reading/time, I'll try to post a picture in a little while

woops, car info: 2007 911 4 78k miles so far, no previous owner maintenance records

oil/filter change every 5k miles or 12 months whatever is less
brake pads/rotor inspection
brake flush - every 2 years
tires inspection/replacement
serpentine belt inspection/replacement - every 4 years
coolant tank inspection/replacement
spark plugs - every 4 years
water pump inspect for noise and possible replacement
inspect electrics - lights

...just to start.

I like using the above checklist (assuming you have a 997.1).

No need to change the oil before you put it away and when you get it out, just before. When you do the oil change, change the gearbox oil with Mobil 1 PTX - that should remedy your occasional binding into first gear issue.

I changed the gearbox oil on my GT3 RS. Interesting results. Drove it up to operating temp. Drained the oil for 8 hours. Then put a plastic paint mixing cup under the drain plug and let it drain another 4 days. Over half a quart came out over that time. So most normal drains will leave at least half a quart of old oil in the gearbox. Do what you want with that data.
