@Targaone1 have you seen this car?

https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1225826

disclaimer, I know nothing of Porsche depreciation and long term value of cars. This is the first car I’ve owned that has not lost value and could appreciate.

it’s at 35k. I haven’t been looking long but I feel like I keep an eye open and I’m not seeing a lot of manual 997 coupes at 30k in this current market. I would imagine the 997.1 with high miles would be a candidate to cool off at some point but a manual coupe 997 is what everyone wants so who can say. Also inflation could cause this to be the cheapest “numbers” prices. They could cool off 10% but then be priced physically higher to offsets if inflation.

Internet is low on auto loans rn.

Compare to this 997.1 cab manual at 31k

Small accident on car fax and 118k miles. You get so much more value on that 4K on the rennlist posted 997

I'm guessing that Rennlist car is long gone. I would say to anyone trying to squeeze into a 997 on a budget to think things through especially when it comes to whether or not you can afford to get a major repair done if it occurs. On a high-mileage car that is a real possibility. These are not Toyotas. I don't follow the market but maybe even considering a Boxster.

I'm 63 now, and bought my first Porsche at 19 or thereabouts. I could not afford to take care of a German car when problems happened. I also had a BMW 2002 at the same time, and the transmission failed. It was expensive to own...more than I could afford.

996 and 997 Porsches are already bottomed out on depreciation. Can they go down in value? If the whole market goes to hell which could happen.

EDIT: I don't know if Boxsters and Caymans follow the engine improvements that occurred in 911's improvements in 2009, but if true, here is a base 2009 Cayman with a manual trans and 34k miles for $26,500 and it's in California. Caymans and Boxsters are great cars, and 34k miles is pretty young.

2009 Cayman

Or a 2006 Cayman S w/ 54k miles and a nice build for $32k Really nice build. This car looks really clean. Really really clean. I'm surprised you can get a car like this for $32k personally 2006 Cayman s
