Default 997.2 Brake Light

So I checked my brake pad and rotor thickness and the rotors have another .060” on them before the minimum thickness. The pads probably have .150” left, but no brake warning light yet. Once that light comes on how many miles do I have to change the pads out? Do I park the car until I change the pads out or does it give me at least a few hundred miles?

I was told that changing brake pads isn't enough and that it's recommended to change the rotors also. I'm new to P cars. How much truth is there to this analysis.

thanks
