Default 997 Roof Rack

Having a tough time finding a genuine roof rack for my 997, no one seems to have them in stock.

Anyone have any luck with third party solutions, i.e. Seasucker, etc.? This would be for boards and bikes.

Thanks
Stefan

My local dealer had none and said there were none available in the US. Suncoast has them in stock and mine was delivered yesterday. When I fly home from work I will be able to confirm that it is the factory genuine part.

They pop up on the boards every now and then, usually $350-400 so its not much savings over buying new.

Porsche does not make roof racks.
They are made for them. Nothing wrong with the Porsche labeled product.
Thule make an excellent system.

I have a set of factory roof bars and all the goodies they came with. I bought them on here a while back and used them one day to transport a roof box. If you're still looking feel free to PM me

I am aware that the rack is Thule manufactured to Porsche/Thule design. It is a Porsche part number and I'm glad to have it. My last car had no "factory" rack and the roof had to be drilled for the footpad/anchor of the custom whispbar solution I had made.

I just reconfirmed with Suncoast. They have none in stock, and see no new arrivals on the horizon. Any other leads?

I would probably go for a Yakima system if I wanted a brand new setup. Otherwise, I'm sure a used Porsche/Thule setup will make its way online either here or maybe on eBay/craigslist/etc in due time.

I don't have Yakimas, but as far as I'm aware, it's probably the only other roof rack brand that has a reputation and support as renowned as Thule's (although I'm sure there are probably other good brands that I'm simply unaware of). However I really do like that the Yakima Skyline Towers are proper fixed point roof mounts that are meant for our cars. That's always gonna be more stable than a setup that has to be tightened to the door jams or suctioned cupped to the roof/rear window.

Also, I believe that Yakima crossbars are compatible with accessory racks from other brands. So for instance, if you prefer a Thule/Porsche bike rack or surfboard mount to a Yakima one, that particular part should still be plug and play with the Yakima bars. Either way, I hope you find a set up that works for you and good luck!

They are a Thule set up. Made quite well. I bought mine here, they come up from time to time. Thule doesn't have a part # for the 997 run (years), that was my first clue that they made them for Porsche. Keep hunting, good luck. I wish i had a picture to show you when i hauled lumber (the one time in my life i went three weeks without a truck)

I love my Seasucker Talon for my bike.. not sure what they do for boards though. For me, I use it twice a week through the warmer months and I love being able to quickly put it on and take it off. The mount is extremely well built and the suction cups aren't letting go of anything. I've enjoyed it thus far. Horrible picture but it's the only one I've got for now (if you want to see anything let me know).

I've also since bought black center caps.

Obligatory roof rack content: I have the factory crossbars. They're okay. Gotta be careful with the allen bolts not to cross-thread them. I put anti-seize on all of them.
