Default Is one these 997.2 turbo a good purchase?

Hi there, I'm a noob to rennlist and Porsche. Hoping to get expert advice here. I've been looking for 997.2 turbos for a while, waiting for the prices to bottom out. I recently came across this one https://www.carmax.com/car/15749551

2009, manual cabriolet, ~47k miles, $73k., Seems like an okay price for a manual after pouring through autotrader, CarGurus listings et al

This is another one I've found for 8k less - https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/share/179503328
2009, 54k miles, manual cabriolet for 65k

I'm guessing part of the difference is in options; waiting to get original stickers. Or is there a place for me to check the build spec using VIN?

Other than Carfax and KBB, what else should I look for in the car's history and PPI? What major services should have been done by now, and which ones should I budget for in next 2-3 years? (I'll drive <5k miles/year, mostly weekend leisure).

And is CarMax extended warranty worth it at ~4.5k? Seems like the turbos don't have major issues like IMS?

Thanks a ton for reading this!

2009 is still the Mezger motor. Check that the water pipe updates were done. 2010 began the 9A1 motor without that concern.

Great choice, good luck!!!

As Wayne says, the coolant pipe upgrade is the only main issue with the Mezger motor - no IMS issue like with the non-Turbo and non-GT cars. That 2nd one is pretty cheap for an 09 turbo. They're usually around $75k.

I don't see big differences in the 2 either like options from the buttons on front of the shifter, both have comfort seats, so no value difference there.

Might want yo ask in the Turbo subforum too. Good luck.
