Default Stiff brake pedal/no grip after doing AOS and alternator cable

I just finished replacing my air oil separator and starter/alternator cable. Started up the car and took it for a test drive. The brake pedal is very stiff and the brakes do not grab. Any ideas what happened?

Was something you disconnected as part of that job a connection to a power brake booster. Sounds like you've lost the power assist for the brakes - same as if you tried them with the engine not running.

Found a split in the brake booster vacuum line that I had moved out of the way
