Engine serial number question

Hi all
I am posting here as I feel the 997 group is more well versed in this subject. I bought a 2005 Boxster S last year from a reputable dealer locally. The salesperson told me the previous owner replaced the clutch, but didn't do the ims because it had already been done. Thought the explanation was strange, wanted to get clarification from the PO but never ended up connecting with him.
So I just took the car out of storage and checked the engine serial number. Ends up I have M96/26AT6266xxxx. From what I have read the "AT" means a new engine was swapped in. The 626 after the AT means a 3.2 built in 2006. If it was the original engine it would have been 625, and no AT in the serial number.
Since my engine is a late sequence 2006 would it be safe to assume it has the larger non serviceable IMS? This would coincide with why the previous owner didn't or should I say couldn't replace it.
Cheers
