07 997 Triptronic Fluid and How Much?
Hi All!
My 997 is seeping from the trans pan so I want to fix the gasket and replace the filter at that time as well. I am however finding conflicting information on what type of fluid and how much I need. Pelican parts and other sites show ATF 3353 is ok to use and they state its 9 liters for dry fill. That seems excessive when I look at the where the fill and drain plug is for our 997s.
Does anyone have real world clarification on what fluid I should use and how much? Does anyone else have a good DIY besides pelican? This is for 996 and 997 and gets bit confusing. Link: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...sion_Fluid.htm

I do have a lift, so that is not an issue. Its just a fluid change.. I really just need clarification on fluid quantity and type. My local independent wants almost 700 to do the work.

If you google some PDK fill threads on Rennlist, you will find the fill amount is about 3-4L. Problem being that the PDK will need to enter Fill Mode:
"Closely monitor the PDK fluid temperature. When the PDK fluid reaches the temperature of 30°C (86°F), you must command the vehicle utilizing a scan tool into the transmission “Fill mode”. The scan tool will not enter the “Fill Mode” until the PDK transmission oil temperature reaches 30°C (86°F), BUT at no higher than 40°C (104°F). PLEASE NOTE; this process must be expediently followed because the “Oil Fill” mode ends sharply after 5 mins"
I spent the $700 at my indy, rather than risk damage to a $18,000 tranny.

Youre asking about the 997.1... tiptronic
I've read that if you are only doing the fluid and filter swap people get a bit over 4 quarts out. I've then read that if you do the diff as well you can replace 7 quarts. I'll probably buy 8 quarts just to be safe if I change out the diff as well. I'll buy 6 if I just do a fluid/filter swap.
ECS Tuning shows this as the factory fill fluid. Notice it says Pentosin...
Which means we can buy this for 17 per quart....
I'll give ECS a call to confirm the above.
