Where's the best place to tap for switched 12v power in a 997.2 cabrio? I'm thinking of wiring in a high power USB charger that will not drain battery while not in use.

 

What's wrong with the USB in the center console? If that's not enough power, buy an adapter and plug into the cig lighter. That puppy can crank some juice

 

The cig lighter ports are on the battery bus, as is the low-powered USB port in the console. If you leave anything in them, like forgetting to take your USB charger out of the lighter socket, you run the risk of running down the battery.

Switched power point would be better for that and a few other things.

 

I used an add-a-fuse from the fuse box (by your left foot). I forget which fuse slot i used, but if you play around with a volt meter and the key you'll figure it out. Tricky part is getting a small enough fuse holder & wiring to get the fuse box lid to snap back on.

test and try both with a 12v cig socket + usb adapter (with led)... although i do believe both are switched on in accessory mode.
