Default Softronic tune review

After all the research and asking members here about tuning options, I decided to go with a Softronic ECU tune. Fist off i have to say, dealing with Scott at Softronic was an absolute pleasure. I ordered the Tune and some BMC filters last Sunday and had the OBD Cable by Tuesday, i live in Canada ... so that is super fast. Instructions were super easy and simple. Extracted my ECU software and emailed it to Softronic That evening. Thursday my email arrived with my Tune and off the the garage i go. Again super simpler install, took about 5 min. Now for the first drive. As soon as i started my car up i could tell the idle was smoother and throttle response leaving the garage was instant. After a good warm up i left for quick drive. Headed to Chevron to fill my car with 94 Octane. Hit the highway and WOW, Im so impressed how it pulls harder and smoother, Especially around 5000 RPM. Its like Sport Plus Plus. I also have the Gundo hack and Sharkwerks pipe. This tune was just what the car needed to be complete. Need to really put another 30 or so miles on the car for the ECU to fully adjust to new settings and take full advantage of the tune.I would just like to thank Scott at Softronic for all his help and Great service. I did not post this to start a debate on who has the best tune, how much is costs, or how much actual HP gains my car has. If your thinking about adding a tune, I wouldn't hesitate to try Softronic.

Damon88,

Nice critique! Sounds like you are pleased.

I love my Softronic performance tune too. It puts "life" into an already lively engine.

Years ago when i used to fly down to California to ride Motocross, i remember there being 100 Octane at the pump. Can't remember if it was leaded fuel though. But yea 94 Octane is def great for our cars.

Curious do any of you notice any difference below 3k as thats where these cars seem to be weak? Thanks

Yes, I sense torque is stronger as soon as I step on the "go" pedal and continues across the power band. I will concede the increases are greatest above 4000 rpms.

I believe Softronic's website has dyno charts that will diagram the increases in torque and power vs. the standard values.

I noticed my throttle response below 3k right away. My car is so much better all the way through the rpm. I also have the Sharkwerks and Gundo hack. I'm so happy that i did a tune. Car is night and day better.

Did it change the sound of the exhaust? I’ve read about other tunes that create more pops and burbles on the overrun through late addition of fuel.

+1 for Scott and the Softronic tune. Had it on my 996 and it made a real nice difference.
Still on the extended warranty for my 997, so haven’t added it ... yet.

any downsides at all? twitchiness in the throttle response, noticeably lower MPG, louder exhaust at idle - 3k RPM, anything? Asking because cars I've had with a sport plus mode (M3, Cayenne GTS) were not pleasant to drive all the time in sport plus.
thx

Is this something really worth / legit doing for $1k on a manual C2 with Gundo hack only? I mean is it really noticeable down in the lower RPM in terms of remapping of the torque/power curve? i I doubt the HP increase, if really any, would be noticeable. Anyone other than OP with real life experience?
