I had a 2001 Audi S4 and now have. 2010 997.2 Carrera and absolutely love it.
I just ordered the sharkwerks center exhaust, the IPD intake plenum and bmc filters

Sharkwerks bypass pipes is a good start to fix the quiet stock exhaust but unless your car has PSE I bet you'll move on to the side mufflers in short order to get to where you want to be. Plenty of options there from very inexpensive to rather costly.

He he, same here, taking delivery of a 2012 911 GTS Cab on Monday. 6 speed, sport exhaust, PASM, Sport Chrono, Bose, Nav, and CPO! Traded in a fabulous '15 Boxster S which had the sport suspension, sport chrono, 20" Carrera wheels, Nav, Bose, plus more. As much as I loved the Boxster (and I did) I wanted to get back to a 911 (I had an '06 Carrera Base). Finding a rare GTS with manual on its last year of production sealed it for me. Here are my two cars on the day I traded my Boxster.

I actually had an Audi S5 a couple of years ago. Beautiful car, steering felt like it was on Novocaine, no comparison to a 997!

Audis have never really impressed me. I purchased the first TT 225 hp delivered to this part of the country way back when, have driven various S and RS. Never really liked their feel. Heavy, sterile, understeer and etc. Almost picked an R8 2 or 3 weeks ago. Really enjoyed the gated shifter and its a decent car. Rather just pay more and pick up another 458 instead though. The R8 was more of a bucket list check it off purchase than anything and they can be picked pretty cheap.

Sorry to hijack but just a quick question for Doug. You mention that 458 often. I've never been fanatical about Ferraris but the 458 checks all the boxes for me. Easily the best looking model they ever built imo. How's the reliability? I like to drive the nicest car in my garage rather than just look at it 6 days a week so mine would be a DD which sounds worse than it is. Maybe 4-5K miles a year. If that. If I ever come across this car or its twin I doubt I'll be able to to hold back:

Congrats! The porsche will never sound as nice as that high revving 4.2 v8 but the handling really makes up for it. Enjoy.

Nice Dango. It will hopefully make a decent family car for short trips...
