FabSpeed ECU tune?
I purchased a 2009 C2 cabrio from Phillips Auto. I believe it has the full FabSpeed intake and street exhaust system installed. But, I don't think it had an ECU tune to match the upgrades. The engine runs really rich, you can smell the gas and the exhaust tips get covered in carbon real fast. Would the FabSpeed ECU tuner and a tune fix this problem?

if you don't have access to datalogging equipment any decent mechanic will and they can run logs of afr and trims and see whats going on. You may have a metering issue who knows.

But 1st you need to determine if your car is even running an incorrect air fuel ratio and you need to do that by data logging.
These cars run closed loop operation while under throttle. So any small modifications you have would not be causing any air fuel problems for it in other words the ECU of these cars Will meet the requestioned air fuel ratio of the ECU based upon on going feedback from the 02 sensors.

Just curious did you read the Yelp Reviews on Phillips Auto prior to purchasing?

Balancing equation = Fabspeed products are of excellent quality and and fabricated in a state of the art facility. I'm very happy with everything I have purchased, so far. The MyGenius tune (thru their tune specialist) really opened up the power band and offered a noticeable improvement in the driving experience. An ECU tune will not correct fuel mix/injection issues.

I found a good Porsche mechanic 2 miles from home. My car is going there as soon as he has an opening. The FabSpeed ECU guy I spoke with told me to get the Cobb AccessPort; it's better than theirs. I can't say I find anything wrong with FabSpeed equipment. The intake system looks to be good quality and materials. The exhaust system is quite a piece of work, good bends, clean welds and decent fit. The customer service people I've contacted have tried hard to be of assistance, given the 1400 mile distance. We found some lose connections and tightened them up which took care of most of the rich running problem. My car sits in a cold garage for a week (temps between 25 and 35) and runs rich when I first start it up. But after 10 minutes it's running perfectly fine and getting 26 mpg.

not sure you ever confirmed you were running rich. Do you have aftermarket hiflo cats?

That explains a lot then. You're not likely running rich but rather smelling fuel because the aftermarket cats are doing a **** poor job of controlling emissions. This is pretty common. Unless you have an actual problem with the car your ECU should be doing its job keeping the AFR where it wants it.
