Default Sto-N-Sho License Plate Mount

Anyone try one of these for their front plate?

Technically, its for the 991, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on our 997's.

I have a Skene design plate holder that I ordered, but haven't installed yet. It's nice, but it looks like the Sto-N-Sho could be a better option for me.

I would prefer something like this over a Tow Hook Mount.

Looks like I answered my own question.

I did a search here and found this thread. Posts# 25, and then 31-34:

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ight-blue.html

Per post #32 of that thread: "I noticed the same thing on their website and scanned the interwebs for photos of the bracket installed on other Porsche's. I concluded that the 2014 and up version would work. I hope this helps.

Just placed the order for one, will post pics when I get it.

Yup, I've got it on mine, the 2014 version does work on our cars.

I like the idea that it can be removed at any time and it's centred. I have the US Millworks tow hook mount on my E90 BMW and I like the offset look with the M-tech bumper, but something about the 997 that I wanted to have a centre mount plate.

My car is in winter storage, but I don't think I have any pics of it mounted right now.

I would most likely bottom that thing out.

Easy install. Almost took longer to jack up the car, and put the jack stands in place than to install.

Once the car was jacked up, I removed three screws to loosen the skid plate, positioned the mount, drilled holes. Then, inserted bolts from the top of the skid plate and mounted (used blue lock tite on the bolts).

As your picture shows and judging form the prevalent skid marks on the lip, I see that you're going to have some serious problems with the setup!

Possibly. I believe most of those skid marks are from the cars P.O. Also, there is some flex on the “skid plate” that the unit is mounted to. I would think that if you do touch pavement, the plastic skid plate will flex before causing damage to the license plate mount. According to the manual, it lowers the clearance by about 0.5”, which isn’t much. I’ll see how it works in real life. For now, I am happy.

Nice!

As in it will make a nice skid plate when retracted, though have to admire the ingenuity and effort...

Updating this thread: I’ve had to make a few trips to L.A. for work, and the LAPD are notorious for ticketing people who don’t have front plates. I simply put the plate on before I go, and take it off when I get back. Takes only a few seconds.

Ive had no issues with the car bottoming out.

It’s a great option for people who need a front plate but don’t want one.
