Whats Next? Your thoughts..
Relatively new to the forum, but love it. I am back in the market for a Porsche and wanted to pose my situation and hear your thoughts. Ive had a 991.1C2S, Macan Turbo, Boxtser GTS, Cayman, 991.2 TurboS... then I had a McLaren, which I didn't care for, so recently sold that and am back in the market. Ive decided to stick with just a few models, primarily being 997 body styles.
Budget: ~ 100k +/- 10K
Uses: occasionally drive to work, track 2-3 times a year, weekend canyon carving, taking wifey to dinner etc
Goals: Car that has taken most of its depreciation and /or something that may be turning the corner and ticking up ( e.g. GT3)
manual > pdk, but open to both
SOME luxury would be nice, but a nice blend would be welcomed.
So far, my thoughts are a 997.2 GTS, GT3, TurboS ... or a GT4....
the 991.1 is too "GT" for my taste having had a couple. I have a DD currently, ( and will prob be getting a Macan S CPPO'ed as my new dd )

GT4 has more room to depreciate. Those are still selling for at sticker and when the new one comes out, that should cause the 981 GT4 to go down unless they do a turbo engine. 997.2 GTS prices are at a high right now. Not saying they are going to come down a ton but if you buy one at $70-80k, I do believe they will start coming back down at some point. They were a good buy a couple years back at $65-70k. My choice would be a 997.1 GT3 or 997.2 GT3. Not going to depreciate much if at all, fun car, perfect for what you want. Just pin the coolant lines and you should be good.

GT4 at MSRP or below with room to go lower.
My buddy just picked up (today) a low mile (5k) CPO car at sticker. Full Xpel, New PS4 all around. No track time.
Super nice car.
997.1 GT3 or 997.1 TT seem to be hot right now. Not sure if they will hold but a few nice examples still for sale.

I had the 570s. I traded in a991.2 Turbo S for that car.
PROS: surprisingly good deals being given, looks ( subjective ), unique factor
CONS: Crazy Turbo Lag, Spartan Interior ( not high end feeling/looking at all) , and too " flashy" for my personal taste, which i realized with all the attention I started to get driving it . Electronics are quirky, as with most british cars
saw a GT4 yesterday locally, asking over MSRP still. will cross this car off the list, because I anticipate a drop once the new ones come around. So that leaves basically a 997.2GT3 or GTS .
sidebar, also drove the Macan GTS, and that car is awesome as an all around great vehicle.

Three Wheelin'
Definitely not the overpriced GT4. 997.2 GT3 or GTS seems like a great place to be.

update: GT4 -out , 996GT3 - out
the ~ delta between a 997.2 GT3 and GT3 is ~ 30k... wonder if the GTS will still depreciate, as I feel confident the gt3 will be good and may make more sense to pony up the extra dough when thinking about resale on both cars?

If it's just you and the wife and you don't need back seats, 997 GT3 hands down. They're not depreciating much anymore either.

I would say 997 Turbo. GT3's have a singular purpose at the expense of comfort and everyday drivability. Turbos are very comfortable and are fantastic drivers. And you won't bruise your kidneys on the way to dinner.
