Finally got the cap off. Got a pair of work gloves that gave me a bit more grip. Topped it up with distilled water. Tightened manually as much as I could.
Pic of inside of cap...T
New coolant cap arrived earlier from Suncoast this week while I was out of town. Took a bit of oomph to get the old one off, but I waited until the AM when the car/air temps were coolest and with a pair of rubberized work gloves was able to finally get enough purchase on the cap to get it off. Added about a cup of 50:50 coolant:distilled water mixture. The new cap is now on; hand tightened. Used the officially blessed "pink" coolant from Porsche. Dealer charged me abt 5 bucks more than Suncoast would have, but likely a wash once shipping charges included.
Hey folks!
I recently bought an used 2017 Cayenne S e-hybrid and less than 3 months with it, I had the warning about the coolant.
what surprised me was that the coolant in the bottom left was almost empty!!! I wasnt sure if that was the spot to fill but you guys made me confident. I bought the coolant at Walmart for $20 and a funnel for $2 and filled it around the max level. Hopefully now its solved and I saved a few hundreds but I certainly wouldnt do it if it wasnt for all the details seen here!!!
For future reference: I also had the latest cap design (-04) but it still had to be replaced to prevent small leaks when pressurized. Moral of the story: if you have the latest cap, you still might need a new one.
I've also recently purchased a 2017 Cayenne S e-hybrid in the last 3 months and experienced the exact same issue. It's the coolant reservoir in the bottom left which looks too low, i believe this is for the battery.
How did you manage to screw the cap off to top up as it's not very accessible? Also any further issues with this after you topped up?
