HELP! - Strange Noise - 997.2
Gents,
My car has started making a weird high pitch noise when I turn the ignition switch. It lasts for around one second. It makes the noise whether or not I turn the engine on. I did some looking around and I believe the noise is coming form the motor that controls the frunk. I tried using the lever we have in the frunk just in case someone gets locked inside and it makes the exact same noise. I was driving through heavy raise so the rain might be the culprit. Anyways, has this occurred to anyone before? How did you fix it? Is there a fuse I can just pull so it stops making that noise? Thanks in advance.

Did you polish your bumper or headlights recently?
That noise is the frunk hood lock actuator running excessively. This typically happens when static buildup frazzles your front control module.
Mine ran non-stop after my wife rubbed the bumper while getting a bike down. I took it to my indy and they reset the ECU with PIWIS by putting it in "delivery mode". This cleared up the issue. You can also try disconnecting your battery to see if that clears it up.
Hopefully the control module will go back to normal after being reset. If not you need to replace it.

The hood actuator or front control module?
The hood actuator is inexpensive. It’s likely a diy job that can be done for $100. Check suncoast for the part.
