Default 997 Turbo or Lotus Evora S!

Was lucky enough to be bale to borrow a mate's 997 turbo to compare to the Evora.. power wise it's a bit David and Goliath but the Evora is a better car than most think!

made a video of my impressions, let me know what you think!

I got spend about 24 hours I’m both an Evora 400 auto and an Evora 400 manual. Did not like it. I loved my Elise, but not the Evora 400. Completely different animal and lost everything that made the Elise such a joy to drive. In fact, we went to get one that my wife was going to buy me for my 50th birthday. When I said “I got to be honest, I don’t like it,” she said “how about that one” pointing to the DB11 next to it. So she bought me the DB11.

Wow, very strange.. I mean a DB11 is a very nice car but really a GT. I still find that the Evora has enough Lotus feel to keep me happy while being usable for a rapidly ageing old coot like me!

DB11 is totally a GT, but it was about 2 1/2 seconds faster around Laguna Seca than the Lotus Evora S (DB11 140.05 v. Evora S 142.49.

Drive a DB11 and you'll understand. It is an amazing vehicle with incredible sound, coach work and attention to detail. That said, it replaced my 458 and I miss and rather have the 458 back.

In fairness, you can buy 2 1/2 Evora 400s for the price of a DB11 so the DB11 should be better. I also did not realize you had an Evora when I first posted so sorry about that . . . I do like the Evora looks and lines though!

sport mode puts the throttle mapping and overboost into the more aggressive setting, but it also puts the suspension in sport mode, which can be very hard, especially on british b-roads. By hitting the pasm button, he put the suspension back in comfort mode while leaving the engine management in sport.

Hey don't worry, I'm thick skinned and appreciate feedback.. it's the diversity of views that what makes cars interesting!

Yes saw your video too as i have been watching a lot of Lotus Evora vids to get an idea about them.

There is an Evora for sale at a Doge/Chrysler/jeep near me ( a trade in ? ) and i went to look at it - what a car !! WOW - stunning - unfortunately the battery was flat otherwise we could have gone for a drive.

I really would like to drive a 400 or the new 410 which looks even better. I like the new interior more.

This guy does a good video of the new 410

The main thing with them seems to be the ride and handling - which sounds very good - everyone always talks about that plus they look stunning cars to me.

I watched the history of LOTUS video on youtube recently and that was very interesting - the chassis stuff etc ...

I was going to maybe get a 997 - then liked the idea of a 2014 Cayman but now i am leaning towards a 400 or even better 410.

Great video! Im almost certain my next car will be a Lotus, either Evora or Elise/Exige. I have a heavily modified 997, and just want to make sure the Lotus experience is different enough from the 997, that it makes sense to have both the Porsche and the Lotus (no way Im selling the 997.) So, to see a direct comparison is perfect.

Regarding the video, I especially like the way you spliced in a lot of exterior moving shots of the car... that was great! I find a lot of the car review videos go for way too long with the camera on the interior and driver. That is great, but I really want to see the car in motion from the outside also, which you did. Nice work!

Im putting a request in now for an Evora vs Elise video! LOL. Im leanding towards an Elise, as I really love a raw car, but the Evora just looks so good in person.

I bought an Elise SC and my C2S is collecting dust. My 911 feels like a huge Cadillac after driving the Elise.
