Default Another new to me 997.1

Over a long exhaustive search for a 997, I finally found my first 911 and it was local in SoCal. I was originally looking for a Carrara white or Aqua Blue coupe, black or stone gray interior, 6 speed 997.2 C2S nation wide for the past year and came up short multiple times on Autotrader, Cargurus, Cars.com, PCA classifieds and RL classifieds.

Last week, I happen to adjust my search to '06-'12 911 coupes and low and behold, I found this beauty Southern California too. I usually send an inquiry email but this time I needed to call the dealership immediately. I first looked on Yelp to see the shop's reviews to get an idea on how they operate. To my surprise, all very solid 5 stars. I called the shop and spoke with the shop owner for a good 30 mins. After we hung up the phone, I knew this was the one. I set an appointment for Sat Feb 3rd @ 10am to go see the car in person.

That morning, my buddies and I went to South OC Cars & Coffee in San Clemente to see some nice cars until the shop opened at 10am. When I arrived, the shop owner, Tim Scaglione from Orange County Auto Wholesale, greeted us and proceeded to show me the car. Man, she's a beauty. He left me and my buddies with the car so that we can give it a through inspection. After an hour looking over the car, crawling on the ground to see underneath, pressing all of the buttons, I asked him if he wanted a deposit in which he declined. Just a good ol handshake and to call him if anything changes. That weekend, I spoke to my wife and by Monday morning, I called him to proceed with the sale.

I called Hergesheimer Motorsports in Lake Forest to schedule the PPI for this past Friday so if the PPI went well, I could purchase the car on Sat since my wife and I would be in the area on Sat. Tim drove the car there on Thurs evening so that they can start the PPI first thing in the morning

The PPI went well and she got a 4.9 out of 5. I'm sure Laura got sick me because I was calling her so many times with stupid and random questions because the anticipation was killing me. I even called and spoke to Mark about bores scoring on the 997.1's. He gave me some more assurance that the bore scoring issue and even IMS bearing issue are not common and wouldn't even recommend a borescope on this car.

Operating hours: 457
Range 1 447 last occurance 338.8 hours
Range 2 67 " 338.08 hours
Range 3 0
Range 4 0
Range 5 0
Range 6 0

Paint readings measured throughout the body: 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5

-Brake fluid has 4% moisture content so a flush is needed
-Brake pads are 90%
-Front Michelin's are dated 2006 so those need to be replaced
-Rear Michelins's are dated 2011 on the driver's side and 2016 on the passenger's side
-Coolant fluid is at minimal level
-Power steering fluid level is at minimal level
-AC/Fan switches are worn
-Center console and window switches soft rubber have some light scratches
-Stone guards are yellowing
-A scratch on the lower chin and on the rear passenger wheel lip

So without further ado, here she is! 2006 Carrera S, Carrara white, 6 speed, 14,385 miles, Bose, Power Package, 1 owner car, aftermarket wheels (not my cup of tea but they'll do for now) and most important to me very clean and well kept. Call me crazy but I love how the interior smells. All cars have their own distinctive smell both from the engine to the interior. I can't describe it but I'm sure you guys know what I'm referring to.

That's true. They are not Techart II's but replicas. 19" Forgelite 3 piece

That's definitely good to know. From I searched around, these are Techart Forumula II replicas.

Welcome DesmoSD! Car looks sweet. I like those wheels on the white car. Clean, classy.

Glad the PPI turned out well. Let us know if your planning any trips up the coast. Send me those Napa routes you mentioned.

Congrats and welcome. I've got a couple 997.1s. You're going to love it.

That car is so nice it needs a quality wheel on it. I have some polished, forged Champion RS171s for sale in the marketplace if you find a buyer for the current ones. Widths are 8.5 and 11.5 with perfect offsets for the NB cars.
