Default New to me 997.1 and minor suspension overhaul

Hey Fellas,

I picked up this 2006 997s a couple weeks go and couldn't be happier. It's everything I thought it would be!

You don't get a pic of the car on the ground because the wheels were dreadful. New wheels/tires arrive in a week or so.

She came with a set of BC coilovers and the driving experience just didn't do it for me. For now I'm going back to the factory shocks with a basic Eibach Pro-Kit

We deal with SPC quite often, and I have used their product personally for 20 years, so I am giving their coffin arms a go. First impression is for the price they are fantastic!

I will be also be adding a set of the new EIbach 997 adjustable sway bars. No photo right now as they are literally on our powder coating line (I work for Eibach).

More pics to come....

Do the 997 Eibach swaybars require aftermarket end links or are they cool to run with the stock ones? This would be for a 997S coupe. Thanks,

Mike

Awesome Ryan! Can't wait to see the build. How crazy is that, we both found white 997 within a couple of weeks of each other.

Sweet ride voodoo. Let me know how the sway bars turn out.

I installed Eibachs a few months ago and they look and perform great. A DIY writeup here if it helps: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...r-997-1-a.html

Side note for your engineers: the rear wheel gap is absolutely perfect with Eibachs and 15mm spacers. However I find the front wheel gap to not be as symmetric. The front wheels look a little tucked in under the fender whereas the rears are perfectly flush and symmetric. Thats my only minor complaint. I have 7mm spacers in the front and swapping to 15mm may help.

Ryan, looks great. Let's go out for a cruise sometime soon - I've been hot to trot about the pro-kit for a while now.

I will definitely mention in. This sort of thing is tough now that the 997's are a little older and quite a few will have aftermarket wheels with different widths/offsets.

I'm curious, what did you not like about the BC coilovers?

I have a stock setup now with H&R springs and thinking of going with the BC kit. My stock shocks are done and it's cheaper to go all coilovers than replace with stock.

I think the rates they chose are a little off and I couldn't feel much of a difference playing the clicker on the shocks. I'd guess they ramp up from full soft (which wasn't very soft) to overly stiff within a couple clicks. I have to give these back to the previous owner of the car, but if time permits I might try to throw them on our shock dyno.

I have a set of Bilstein B16's on order now which will be an interesting comparison.

Voodoo - working for Eiback. Does that mean your idea of "STOCK", is your candy store at the end of your hall?
I would call that your inventory, or in stock.

We don’t have enough 997 flavored candy.

what are the effects on going front and rear sways vs just the rear...since most cars are lacking a bigger bar in the rear?
