I found this thread by googling the VIN of a 911 for sale in my area. Looks like someone at least sent this car through a wash. Only put 200 more miles on it.

I think that the word Fool is a little strong. I appreciate a little automotive archaeology when searching for a deal and with a little elbow grease, it looks like this one turned out OK. Living in Los Angeles and having my cars keyed twice and backed into numerous times (thankfully not my 911), I've come to appreciate cars that have acquired a little bit of patina because I'm not constantly worried about their appearance or fear of driving them hard.
