Hiss from coolant tank cap after only opening
Hi all - washed the car yesterday and while wiping down the engine bay I decided to check the coolant. It’s hard to see the fill mark even with the cap open. Looked slightly low but not at the mark. Anyway, I put the cap back on and moved the car in the garage. A few hours later I came out to the garage to hear a slight hiss coming from the cap.
Normal ?
Didnt tighten cap enough ?
Something else ?
I removed the cap and cranked it down maybe a half turn more than I had previously.
Thx

You may need the newest version of the cap - check to see if the part number on your cap ends in "04" - if not try this:

You sure the noise was from the cap and not the little burp valve. It will burp if there's trapped air even if the metal clip isn't in the up position.

Pete - It might have been. It was in that general vicinity :-)
I checked the cap and its an "01" variant, so I guess its the older variant. That being said, after screwing it down another half turn I haven't heard the noise again so I think I just didn't tighten it enough, or it was a normal.
