I know your tracking alot.. you still daily driving as well or just track now?
My opinion.. the AOS or other similar value type setup is ok. However for heavily modified, boosted or dedicated track cars, a catch can is more efficient and way more cost effective.
Catch cans require maintenance (draining the oil) and bypassing the AOS so you don't want one unless you have got to a certain point with your setup or track time.

I have a brand new Motorsports AOS that I'd sell for $650 shipped to grab some Christmas money if it turns out that's what you need, but I don't think a failed AOS keeps the car from running - it either smokes heavily, and/or creates a sucking sound, and it's usually very difficult to remove the oil fill cap with the motor running due to the vacuum created when it fails. If you've never changed your HPFP on your .2 that's more than likely your issue.
