Default Quick tip to fix a fading 997.1 climate control LCD

My climate control LCD screen was a bit faded and had a couple small dead spots. I figured it was just old and the LCD was going bad. However, I accidentally found out how to fix it today while installing new temp and fan speed switches from MAcarbon.

When I took apart the face of the climate control panel I found what looked like crusty old coffee stains on the back of the LCD panel. Im not sure how coffee could even get back in there, of if it was some adhesive that gummed up over time.

I cleaned it off with kitchen detergent and to my surprise when I put it back together the LCD was crisp and bright like new. The gunk on the back of it was obviously the problem.

So if your LCD is looking a little rough, it might be worth putting apart the control panel and cleaning the back of the LCD.

Atta boy. Good your you and it saved other some $$. The digital display in the main gauge cluster can also be repaired if you have dead pixels or faulty display screen.
