C4S vs GT-R

Assuming you mean Nissan GTR and not a merc?
The GTR is just way too heavy, big, ugly and just doesn't do anything for me. It is fast, can turn good lap times, but other than that, it really doesn't interest me at all. The crazy thing is that they came out as a cheap "alternative" to a car like a 911 turbo at $75k, now they are $175k and the performance isnt a whole lot better than a 991.2 C2S
No thanks

I just prefer the build quality, history and look of the 911's. But performance wise, you would be better off with a GTR. You could always look at a 911 Turbo if you wanted the performance though.

I find the GT-R to be quite ugly. It looks like a mechanical catfish.

GT-R faster, most electronics, heavier, uglier... C4S nicer build, more elegant, more mechanical. I'd drive both to see which you prefer. If you wanna be a hooligan, GT-R probably a better option.

There are four very differently built GTRs in my car club. One has almost 1000hp. Having driven most of them, you really can't compare. While a modern 911 isn't "analog," it feels it far more then a GTR. For as fast and powerful as a GTR is, it is big and to me lacks "soul" as a driver.
When I was selling my Viper, I looked at GTRs as they had a back seat which was a must have for me. After driving my 997, I had no interest in driving a laptop.
Last weekend, we had a nice back road run with my 997, a 993, a Viper, a Ferrari 360 and a 900hp GTR. None of them were close to keeping up on some pretty sketchy roads....none...we actually had to stop and wait.
That said, from an electronic POV, it's an amazing car (GTR). If you want to go to an import car show, you will have every 14 year old "leaper" falling all over you to take a picture, buy the GTR.

I was going to buy a GTR a couple years ago as a DD - figured AWD for everyday weather, nice power, Nissan reliability, don't see too many on the road, etc. Took my then 7 year old son with me as I need a rear seat to be able to pick up and deliver the kids at times.
I'm 6'1" - got in, set the driver's seat where I'd want it to be for comfortably driving the car, got back out and tilted the seat forward to see how much room the kids would have in the back - answer 2" between the lead edge of the rear seat and backrest of the front seat LOL. Immediately scrapped that plan and went in a completely different direction.
A few months later I found my 928 Spyder, which actually has a larger back seat than the 997. Most 928s wouldn't but because that one is a convertible, the driver's seat can be more upright without my head touching the roof. The 928 is not AWD, now has good power with the SC, wouldn't think it has Nissan reliability but has actually been excellent, don't see any on the road as I think there are only about 25 convertible conversions in the world, but it's a fun car with a heck of a lot more character than a GTR and keeps it in the Porsche family
For others looking for a DD sports car, I've thought the Mustang GT350 might be a good choice and also the Maserati as it really does have a usable rear seat - comes in coupe and cab, but doubt it has Porsche or Nissan reliability.

There's no doubt the GT-R is fast. I have a friend who owns one that is tuned with a custom exhaust that spits flames. It's insanely fast. It's just not my thing.

hooligan
I looked up hooligan and I think that's what I want to be only I'm more a fat guy in a mid-life crisis so why I initially thought a C4S would be better suited for me.

I'm about 6 feet and 230 lbs. I'd say sit in the 911 first and make sure the seats are comfortable. they are barely ok for me. basically I need to take my wallet out of my back pocket to make it work.

In the 911? I am surprised. The 911 is one of the only cars that I fit comfortably in at 6'6", and that includes various Audi's, Mercedes and BMW's. The 997 and 991 are perfect for me both in height and width.

Yeah 997.1 C2S coupe. The bottom bolsters are pretty tight and I'm not a particularly obese dude. I had the same fit as my old E30 M3 with those M Sport seats.
