997.2 C2 Extended Warranty Question
Hey Everyone,
I am looking into getting a 2009 911 C2 with PDK. The car currently has 54k miles on it. In addition to taking the car in for a PPI, would you guys/gals recommend any specific third party warranties to get? I was looking at the option that Fidelity has and the pricing seemed rather high for the premium coverage (around 9k - getting the car for around 38k). I am clueless on the issues this car may have and just want to make sure it doesn't turn into a huge money hole, BUT super excited to join the 911 community.

Fidelity is good and most porsche dealerships sell it.
Several threads on a few dealerships that will compete for the sale.
I am sure a few folks will list details.
I got my 7 year 72k mile deal in Newport Beach Porsche 2008 997 - 8k miles on car bought it earlier this year.

sounds pricey to me, so maybe you can get better deal someplace else.
Others will chime in on the frequent issues with the car, but even small things add up quickly, but the 2009 is a very reliable car overall.

Try Mossy Motors in New Orleans. A lot of people use Michael as he charges 5% over cost. His contact is mjourdan@mosseymotors.com or better yet send him a text at 504-352-8796 with your vin and mileage. I have a 09c2s cab with 55k and the gold plus for 4 years is about $5500. Still a lot of money so I’m still pondering, my CPO is up next month.

Yes, I wouldn't pay $9k, but I would pay $5k, for one on your car. If you had a 6 speed, I wouldn't have said to do it, but since you have a PDK, I think it is worth the peace of mind. I am going to do the same once I find a 997.2 C2S PDK. Fidelity Platinum Warranty is really the only one I would recommend.

Does anyone know whether the Fidelity Powertrain warranty covers the PDK transmission? If so, would you advise getting that for $3k (5yrs./60k miles)? I just feel like 9k is a hard pill to swallow if it's not needed. Realistically I'm going to put 12-15k miles a year on it and keep it for around 5 years. It already has 53k.

Carfax looks good. Very solid maintenance history.
I'm looking at warranty pricing as well, and the main factor in price is mileage. I'm at about the same mileage as you, and it's pretty scary. I am CPO for another 9 months, and then I'll probably suck it up and buy the warranty, but not the platinum. I'm thinking gold or gold plus. I just want to cover the big power train issues.
Good luck. You'll love the car.

Haven't even looked at the Gold plans but I assume they're non-exclusionary which I would rather not deal with. Been there, done that and wasted too much time on arguing over the exact definition of certain words and sentences.

$9k for a $38k car is ridiculous. I got the Fidelity power train warranty solely to cover the pdk. I would not have purchased it except for the pdk. The main concerns on the .2 seem to be HPFP and very, very sporadic pdk issues. Porsche covered my HPFP through goodwill and they seem to be covering 1/2 of the pdk which leave about an $8,500.00 bill on that. Otherwise, the .2 is solid enough mechanically to self insure so to speak.

Is the entry on the carfax that says engine has been removed for repair a red flag?
