I took this picture of a PTS Acqua GTS parked behind the Waikiki Yacht Club several years ago.
Anyone know what color it is?
Turquoise Blue Metallic but it is hard to be sure based on lighting. Suprisingly, it is very different than the non-metallic version, which you can see if you look at the picture to the left.
True dat, the lighting is a big factor in how a color appears to the human eye or a camera lens.
The picture I posted of the Aqua GTS was taken at sunset in twilight- which enhances color saturation, for sure.
My Basalt Black Mettalic (BBM) GTS varies from almost brown under a mercury vapor streetlight, to jet black in natural light, to super dark violet in twilight...
...to shiny dark slate with metallic mirror flakes in dazzling overhead sunshine. People who criticize black as boring are not paying attention to the spectrum of color variety displayed in differing light. (It is, however, by far the most unforgiving color when dirty.)
Hard to believe your logo picture and the Aqua GTS are the same color. Not even close, to my eye- even accounting for metallic vs non. I do like them both.
It looks far better in the picture than when viewed in person.
I think it's a combination of strong light, a very good iPad Pro camera lens and the fact it was just washed by the indy shop after completing a major service.
But, FYI, I bought it in September 2016 (with just under 10K miles) from a PP in Boston.
Immediately had paint correction with 80% coverage Xpel Ultimate PPF and ceramic top coating...installed by an awesome shop: https://uccboston.com/
Here is the result, which was far superior to anything l ever saw on a dealer showroom floor, or picked up at the Porsche factory in Germany:
I immediatley drove it 8000 miles to Southern California via Canada and the entire Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) from Seattle to LA. Since them, I have put another 5000 miles of pretty hard driving in the Malibu Canyons, the Angeles Crest Highway and San Gabriel Mountains, the Santa Ynez range above Santa Barbara and the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Add in several round trips on the PCH between LA and SFO.
IOW, lots of road abuse and exposure to the elements.
If available, I wash it almost every day on a road trip at self-service commercial car washes (I am always on the road with the car, since it is stored in SoCal and I live in Hawaii).
Always touch-less, using the wand: first foam, high pressure wash, high pressure rinse and always finish with the "spot free" rinse. If there is a high pressure air dry feature available, I use it, then dry any residual with single use Costco yellow microfiber towels. I then spray on and wipe off (same Costco towel) this product:
So, 5 years/15K hard miles later, the paint and PPF still look awesome. It is stored indoors, usually, but not always under a soft cover.
Amazingly, especially for a black car, I have never needed to do another paint correction, nor replaced any PPF.
Occasionally I spring for a hand wash at a reputable car wash in Thousand Oaks, but my system seems to be working well.
