Yes, they are the same....I bought the Porsche version on eBay for less than what the CTek sells for when on sale from the usual providers.
They work great....I plug it in when I know I won't be driving the 911 for a week and usually it takes about 4 hours to show green.

I would strongly recommend CTEK 45 (name in Europe) with quick connect. Why? - Because then you can fit the neat quick connector with LED battery indicator permanently to the battery so you don't have to open the frunk every time.
Also a safety thing since you always have access to battery terminals outside the frunk in case the battery runs flat and you can't open the hood.
I have this solution and I have routed the cable and the quick connector so it's resting behind the wipers under the frunk lid. Then I can always see battery status from the car and pull it up for easy charging
The quick connector has to be purchased separately.

This is the one I have. I use the optional cigarette lighter attachment. Works like a charm. Not sure if it has been superseded by a new model or not?

The most basic Battery Tender is all you need. Less than $25.
Inexpensive and great warranty/service.
Have one on my '92 cab and one on my '08 Scooter. Rotate those two on my generator battery from time to time.

Get the word trickle charger out of you head.
Trickle - is constant power, like + .2 or .7 whatever.
What you need is a maintainer/tender. Something that monitors your battery and sends .5 ish when needed. I like the fused waterproof lead plug idea. Wifeproof...

This! Have one with a cigarette plug in. Very simple and works really well. I made the mistake of not putting it on for a few weeks. Thought being warm weather would be OK. Took the car out and was VERY slow to crank over. Put the tender back on, no problems at all. A must have.

I use a Battery Tender that's a holdover from my motorcycling days. Bigger and older than the newer model pictured above (small steel case). Have the quick release connector as well. Works great. I believe its max current delivery is 1.5 A or so and is a true smart "tender" vs. low-current trickle.
Edit: it is the Battery Tender Plus, 1.25 amp, apparently still available.

Why pay more for anything else. I hardwired to battery and use the quick connection in the frunk.

Two weeks ago, I toured the Ingram Porsche collection. One of Bob Ingram's sons walked us through each car. We were there about 3 hours and talked about the cars and their maintenance extensively.
I noticed that they had both CTEK and Battery Tender chargers hooked up to the cars. Keep in mind that some of the cars there have seven-figure values. I thought I would put the debate to rest and asked which charger they preferred for their cars. He said they had had no issues with either brand and had several of each that they moved around from car to car.
While that doesn't settle the issue, it does make me feel better about using the four or five Battery Tender brand chargers that I have accumulated over the years.
