I needed back seats so the 911 was my only choice, but even if I was an empty-nester, if I could only have one P-car, or if I was buying my first of many, that only/first Porsche would be a 911.

I traded a 2006 CaymanS after 3 years of ownership in for my current 2009 997.2S. Would not go back to the Cayman. It's a fun car, easy to drive and track I could not get over its quirky looks. I've always been a fan of bigger sports cars as well. Love the 997 and 991 platforms. Rear engine bias of the 997 is a lot more fun to drive than the neutral Cayman for me. Can't get enough of how the car plants in the corners and accelerates on exit. It's incredible and never felt this with any other car I've owned or tracked and that's a 911! I'm sold on it! Driving experience over the "me too" mid engine platform.
I've always loved the 911 experience. I think I'll be right at home having come from a 996TT most recent. I'm certainly sold on the 911, just debating between the S and non-S
I think PASM does lower the ride height a bit and is standard on the S.

You're 100% correct. I had a base C2 and a C2s back to back at my friend's dealer (unfortunately their prices are astronomical for the cars), and noticed a very minimal drop on the S than the base.

This will be my 3rd 911. I have a 944 Turbo S Silver Rose which I love to death...probably the one car I'll never let go of. But in modern standards I'm certainly sold on the 911. Just a matter of grabbing a base vs an S model now.

Curious - applies to both S models, and non-S models.
Is right now not a good time to buy from a dealer?
I know (in theory at least), the best time to buy would be mid-winter, especially January into mid February.
Why are all of these higher mile cars priced as high as they are? $36k for a high 92k mile C2S? I could see the color being a rarity but come on...and $38,400 for an 81k mile C2S with factory Aerobat?
When do you folks feel is the best time to buy from a dealer?

It seems like dealers put these cars up for 5 to 7k over what I think is a good deal. In the winter I think those premiums fall to maybe 2k to 5k depending on the dealer, just in my limited experience. I think these prices/colors/options are why it can take a year for some guys to find the right car. Aero kit may make it a bit more challenging too.

The car you found at Park Place looks nice. I noticed it has the lightweight flywheel though and I think Raby has seen some problems with those...

But who knows - it's far too easy to get sucked down the M96/M97 rabbit hole and forget what awesome cars these are.

Every time I walk out to any of my cars there's a high likelihood if falling down the rabbit hole
