Default replacing 997 radio that has factory bose - MOST decoder...

Hello all,

I have a 2007 997s with Bose and would like to have video capability, bluetooth calling, HD radio, and playing media from memory cards etc. Bosically, i'd like to update our circa 1990s style head unit.

I have read on the forum that to retain the Bose system I'll need to buy the MOST adapter which appears to be anywhere from $550 from Suncoast to $650 from NAV-TV.

I ran across this one though for $129...

https://www.seicane.com/2005-2012-po...r-adapter-sc69

Will this one work the same or am I missing anything here? I assume I still want the standard stereo install kit that you order from Suncoast for $225 or so right but that and this $129 adapter should do the job?

Thanks in advance.

If you have Bose and want to keep the stock amplifier you need the Most fiber optic adapter thats 550. If you gut the whole thing and install head unit and amp you just need the cheaper kit. If you do that and have sports chrono you lose those features with new head unit.

I appreciate the reply however let me clarify what I was asking.

People are spending $550 for the MOST adapter from Suncoast and am I correct that this MOST adapter for $129 is the same thing for $400 less money?...

https://www.seicane.com/2005-2012-po...r-adapter-sc69

Then in addition (Bose or not) I am understanding that we all need the cheaper kit as well.

I just want to make sure my bases are covered.

hey Mike... I did the install myself in my 09 997.2s a couple of months ago but used the MOST-HUR unit from NAV-TV... below the link to the write up I did

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...on-997-2s.html

I dont know about the unit you mention... when I was doing my research on how to "modernize" my car (I installed appradio with carplay and backup camera) I read about chinese knock-offs... cheaper but people had issues with those units - documentation, support and some just did not work... not saying this one will not work but just giving u a heads up... I spent more money but I can tell u it works well.. and the support from the NAV-TV people was excellent (I am not affiliated to them of course)

cheers

Hi danilo

Thank you for your link and yes I'd like to do something very much like what you've got going on. Yeah it is tough to know the quality of these most box decoders if the ones from Suncoast and the others are any better quality than the other ones that are made in China. I would not be shocked if they're all made in the same Factory but it's hard to know without hearing other people's experiences with these. I guess I'm a bite the bullet and try this one out. Thanks again. Mike

I'd try it out!

I used the most adapter, but if could save $400, why not?

Also, dont pay $225 to suncoast for a dash kit. Generics are like $15.

Ok thanks for the replies fellas.

I went ahead and ordered that same one from ebay for $79...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-radio-St...lZll7Z&vxp=mtr

Then I got the dash kit, mounts, wire adapter, and antenna adapter for $19 from Crutchfield when I ordered the receiver.

I may have made a mistake with the receiver but we'll see. I keep going over what my main preferences are in a receiver and this one is ticking it despite being only $129.

For me I want:

1. to be able to play music and movies from an SD card or USB
2. bluetooth for my phone
3. to be able to play DVDs

Thats really all I need. I'm not a big techie so this should fit the bill...

https://www.crutchfield.com/S-msWGh9...-Jose-120.html

Sure, itd be nice to have android auto but those receivers dont seem to play SD cards which is more important to me.

I'll keep you all updated how it works.

You also need Metra 70-1787. That the dash harness to get the CAN/Power plugs from the stock plug. Be careful, the pin layout is for VW/Audi, but the connectors are the same. I rearranged the wires to match the pins that I needed. And Metra 40-EU10 for the antenna.

Nice find!
How long have you had the MOST? Can you do a quick review on it?

Hello,
I got your PM. The $19 kit from Crutchfield comes with a head unit when you order. In looking at my invoice its the Metra part numbers above....

003POR911s - 05-11 Porsche Install Kit in silver - $11
Metra 70-1784 - Wire Harness - $4
120ISOPK - ISO Screw Pack - $1
12040EU10 - Euro Antenna Adapter $4

I'll keep you guys posted. I get the stuff next week. Crutchfield has a little known service too where for an additional $20 they will solder the harness together for you so it is completely plug and play. Hoping this is pretty straightforward.

Wondering if anyone else has tried the ebay Most module instead of the more expensive one.
