Default Lawsuit forces Porsche to buy sunglasses.

http://jalopnik.com/lawsuit-settlement-forces-porsche-to-buy-sunglasses-for-1797798617

If you are a current or prior owner or lessee of a Model Year 2007-2016 Porsche Vehicle in the United States you could be affected by a class action settlement.

The purpose of this Website is to inform you of a proposed settlement of a class action lawsuit known as Chan, et. al., v. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. which was consolidated with Roy Jones, et. al. v. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. This lawsuit alleges that 2007-2016 Porsche vehicles equipped with certain colored dashboards are defective due to the intensity of reflected images off of the dashboard and onto the inside of the windshield (“Windshield Reflection” or “Glare”). The dashboard colors encompassed by this Settlement are Luxor Beige, Sand Beige, Cognac, Platinum Grey, and Natural Brown. The vehicles at issue are referred to as the “Class Vehicles.” PCNA has not been found liable for any of the claims alleged in this lawsuit. The parties have instead reached a voluntary Settlement in order to avoid a lengthy litigation.

To get the official Porsche sunglasses, you have to be a preferred customer and bought many pairs before. Plus you have to promise that you won't flip them for a profit....but they really don't care if you do. Then you must get an allocation and fret over of the frames are PTS and if you want spring loaded clasps or the very rare forged magnesium frames. You can buy a genuine leather pouch too for storage, but the deviated stitching will cost a bit more.....and finally, you must never wear them unless you go to a cars and coffee, as they might become collectible.

I'll just wait two years for the original sunglass recipient to take the depreciation hit.

That's why you should only buy cars with black or dark brown (cocoa) interiors. Seems a silly lawsuit when the test drive would have revealed the reflectivity of the lighter colors. Would have been funny if the settlement was those carpeted dash mats.

Got my $50 settlement checks today. Yes two checks. One for my 2008 Cayman I leased new. I forgot that the reflection from the beige dash bothered me and bought a CPO 2009 Carrera cab Doesn't quite cover the Louis Vuitton and Ray Ban polarized sunglasses, I HAD to buy make the cars drivable but I'll give Porsche a pass on this one.

This is another reason car prices go higher. Ambulance chasing lawyers serving idiotic Porsche owners. Some of us ordered lighter interiors such as Natural Brown and they are just fine - I see no bothering dash reflections. And I will not be part of the class action.

My old C2S had full red leather interior. Not once did I have an issue with glare.

I agree with the posts about how idiotic this is. I filled out the claim form a few months ago and recd a $175.00 check this past week. I never noticed a glare issue with my Sand Beige interior.

Dropped off a donation to the local YMCA yesterday for this amount for their Christmas gift drive for local kids. At least a few bucks of this fubar will be put to good use.
