I hit a chunk of concrete on Academy blvd. on my way home. Broke the oil pan all the belly pan and a coolant line is dripping. could be worse I didn't lose oil presser and the low oil light didn't come on.
After you fix it, consider adding the OEM oil pan protector plate
The OEM skid plate is a flimsy piece of aluminum that mounts too close to the oil pan. Get the LN Engineering one if you want actual protection. It's also compatible with deep sumps like my MantisSport one. Allows access to the filter and drain plug without removing it.
I am still wondering how this did not leak fast enough to lose the sump contents and throw a warning light. Very lucky.
I was searching for some chain tensioners the other day and did note the cost of a sump cover at about $130 at Sonnen or SunCoast or some place. Get some permatex ultra copper or the "5900" OEM sealant and it should be an easy fix. [God forbid, unless, the block got gnarled.]

Petza, are those tie downs (in blue)? Where'd you get them?
I wonder if the LN engineering stainless steel plate could have save the oil pan on OP's car.....depending on how solid the mounting points are, the SS plate could have bend or dented upward ??
Looks like the OP's plate is gashed and will need to be replaced, not just resealed. Maybe find some threads on deep sump oil pans and PM some of the posters in it as to whether they'd be interested in making along you a deal on their OEM pan. I'd sell you mine but already sold it to another member who was rebuilding his 997 and the replacement motor came with a damaged sump plate. You can probably get one for $50 from someone.
The LN plate is substantial and would have prevented this. The mounts are very solid - rear to the exhaust carrier and front to the crossmember bolts with the blue tie-downs you see in my picture.
Yes, those are tie downs I had laying around that I was going to use on my 928 but when I did the Corvette transmission upgrade in that one, I used the integrated ones that were part of the 928 Motorsports kit. Had these powdercoated along with the RSS swaybars to match the Bilstein coilovers when I did my AirLift and suspension upgrade project to tie everything together color-wise.
They came from either Automotion or Rennline and weren't 997 application specific.
