Default Lowering 997 targa 4 Suspension

Good morning Guys

I have a 997 Targa 4 Gen 1 , completely stock and I am thinking in lowering it because it looks so high! you can almost insert 4 fingers between my 19s and the arch wheel.
My idea is to buy a good set of used springs from a 4S, but I dont know if my shocks will be valid.

any suggestion??

thanks and saludos from Spain.

What did you do to lift the car? Just kidding...

I have a Targa 4 FL myself. I would not be using the 4S springs as they are matched with PASM dampers.

For a moderate drop I suggest the Eibach springs, not harder ride than stock and a medium drop.

Regards

CF

I have a 06 997.1 base coupe with 19" wheels and a similar wheel gap. I am putting new Eibach lowering springs as we speak. They will run you about $320 on Tirerack.com and your local Indy will charge you 6hrs for install, or you can do the job yourself if you are a glutton for punishment. I would also recommend getting 7mm spacers in the front and 15mm in the rear.

I finished the fronts and the gap decreased from 4 1/4" rim edge to fender to 3 5/8". I think thats perfect. I will send some before after pics when I finish the rears.

Ps - my rear wheel gap was the same as yours but your front wheel gap is much larger. Strange. I was also under the impression European cars had different springs that were slightly lower than US cars due to US bumper height regulations.

lol

my car is growing up..

thanks for your recommendations, I will verify front shocks as they seem very soft. If my worst thoughts come alive I will have to go for a complete set of shocks and springs due to the age and low performance.
I will not consider so the Frankenstein solution with the 4s Springs..

for the set, Bilstein? any recommendation?

thanks!

get coilovers or bilstein b12's which are replacement shocks and eibach springs. might as well do it once and do it right instead of doing just springs now and replacing the shocks a year or two down the road when they blow. i went with bc racing coilovers.

you cant just swap any spring on any car. The springs are made for specific models, engines, trans. Check porsche to see what the correct springs are and what cars they correspond to. Another rule of thumb is to look at H&R site and see what springs they provide for each model.
