Default 997.2 with 18" wheels. Need help closing the gap!

Hi guys,
I've had my base 997.2 with 18" wheels, no PASM for over a year. I absolutely love everything about it, except the huge gap between the tires and body.

Any suggestions on the best way to get to improve this situation? Moderate solutions are fine- I don't want to give up too much in terms of the ride and ability to clear bumps.

1. Get 19" wheels (any recommendations for a narrow body car that gives a nice flush look?). I've heard 19's are not advised for a non-PASM car
2. Lower the car a bit
3. A combination?

thanks!

Hi Adnan - I'm confused how 19in wheels would help with the gap. Total diameter stays the same. Maybe someone can suggest some lowering springs that won't rob that comfy ride. I have PASM and on most road where I live using Sport PASM is just too stiff for me.

OK- thanks for that info.
Never had anything but stock wheels and tires on any of my cars. So, the wheel size increases, but the aspect ratio of the tire changes to keep the OD the same.

it might change a little, but you should try lower springs first, that will make a bigger difference

Woukd suggest Eibach lowering springs ($325 + $800~ install) and 7mm front spacers and 15mm rear spacers ($300).

I have the same base wheels and for some reason I like the look. I mean I love the bigger wheels with the lower stance, but there is something classic about the base Carrera look. I say keep it as is.

Go with Eibach springs and 15mm spacers front and rear. It will look perfect.

19" wheels will give the appearance of closing the gap, but do nothing to actually closing the gap.
Springs are the way forward to get the appearance you're looking for

This! $800 install sounds very high, my Indy installed them for $250.

If the visual helps, here is my base Carrera with 19s. Gap looks the same.

Wow that's a great price. I haven't found anyone lower that $800 in SF. I was told it's a 6hr job.

My Indy said 3.0 or from and 1.9 for rear was standard breakdown he found on computer. I have been told it takes much less time than that.

Find out today. Eibachs going on wife's 997.2 as I type.

$0 for DIY. Takes me 4-5 hours taking my time.

I would assume you need an alignment after the installation of new springs at all four corners. Is that factored in?

Another member here just got Eibachs installed on his '09 cabriolet and the cost of installation was $600, but that included a 4 wheel alignment.

Of course, Raleigh is alot cheaper than San Fran or other large metros.

^^^^^ Wait a couple of weeks before alignment. Let it settle first.
