Try 245/40-18s in the front. You may like it even more.

Is this still true? Can this be ran without breaking the front diff?

if you're supper worried about the awd you can run a 245/35/19 and 295/30/19 which are closer than being the 305 rear. Guy have been running the 245/305 setups for years though with no issues.
honestly the awd system in our cars kinda sucks anyway and is basically rwd with a little front wheel assist. The notable difference in awd performance is slime to none.

Im lowered on coilovers as well.

depends on your wheel offset. I typically setup car with pretty aggresive offsets and both roll fenders and do the radiator bracket mod.

If you want the sidewall angle (the "stretch") to match from front to rear, go with 235/35s and 295/30s OR 245/35s and 305/30s with your wheels.
The wheels on my car are 19x8.5/11 as well with 235s and 295s. The tires are General GMax RS, which run a bit narrow compared to other tires so they have a bit of the stretched look to them (though they technically aren't stretched at all).

I know michelin run a little wider than other tires. I want to be sure I can throw the 305 245 option of michelin ps4s on without any rubbing. I cant find a right calculator or michelin spec but do you think the Michelins would work? Or do I need to confirm offset before purchasing?

Help!
I run 19" and love the look and the fitment is great. Details:
19x9 +50
19x11.5 +38
245/35 - 19
305/30 -19
Bridgestone s04
Bilstein PSS9 at gt2 height
I do not track my car and definitely don't have the skill to go 10-10ths so the performance edge if any is a moot point for me for 18". I might get a rub on the front fender liner if making a 90 turn at speed and hitting a bump. The car came with stock twist with Hankook V12 evo2. The 19" ride much better (nearly same sidewall height as 18" and the rest I attribute to the tire difference). The 19" tires are much grippier but they are wider and a different brand so it isn't and apples to apples comparison. Oh BTW my speedo was 6 mph fast (at normal crusing speed) and now is only about 3MPH fast with the taller tires so it actually helped my speedo be more accurate. Generally I find that the speedos in cars read 3mph fast so a taller tire is going to make it more accurate unless you go "way taller".

I just purchases a 996TT with ****'d tires. 12 years old in the front (6/32) and 10 years old in the back (nearly bald). I've got a set of 19" rims and 18" rims. In the 225/35-19+315/25-19 sizes, the choices suck. I'm really after the pilot Super Sports. I see I can get a set of PSS with 235/35-19 + 305/30-19, or 245/30-19 + 305/30-19 sizing. Advice question, this car is lowered with H&R springs by 1". The front diameter will go up 0.3 and 0.6" respectively with these tires. Is this a big deal? Is this enough to scrape the wheel well?
For 18", is there a better tire size combo than 225/40R18 + 295/30R18 with more choices (like PSS)?

I’m lowered on H&R coilovers. When I tried 235/40-19 and 305/30-19’s they rubbed. Bridgestone RE050A. They barely ever rubbed at stock ride height. Lowered though, they are unusable. My understanding was anything over the 25.5” rear of the GT2’s 315/30-18 was asking for trouble. That 305/30-19 is a whopping 26.3” diameter. The rule use to be run the 315/25-19 that’s 25.2” diameter. Those are impossible to find and prob are very harsh on the street. The stock turbo diameters are 25.1” front and 25” rear. The stock GT2 sizes are 25.4” front and 25.5” rear. Just my 2 cents, I woud stay under 26” for max tire diameter (esp if lowered) and make the rears SLIGHTLY shorter than the front.
The specific setup I tried to run 235/40-19 (26.4”) on 19x8.5 ET51 wheels, and the rear was 305/30-19 (26.3” Dia) on a 19x11 ET35 wheel. The wheels are forged Fuchs. I need new tires now and am pondering going back to 19’s after reading this discussion. I use to got to Tire Racks site to pull up a given tire (Mich PS4S), and scan the sizes for the diameters I wanted, then see if there was a set that worked width wise, etc. Seems they’ve changed their site and that list is gone. Shame!

Well, this is the turbo forum... Not the Carrera forum...
Not to mention the necro thread.
