Do you wave or give a thumbs up to other Porsche drivers?
Was on my way to a friend a couple of days ago and saw a white 964. I've never seen a white 964 before but, the driver waved.
Fast forward to some days later and I see a 991.1 Carrera S, he flashes his lights and waves.
About a month go I saw a first gen 997 GT3, driver giving me a thumbs up.
Three weeks ago a 997 Turbo passes me as I park my car, the driver smiles and holds up his fist. Maybe he wanted to punch me? LoL
Out of all these encounters, there were two Porsche owners that didn't wave or anything...both driving Boxsters. That's ok I guess, considering they drive a German Miata!
PS. LOL, Miata thing was a joke
I'm in my third year of ownership but haven't seen other Porsches on the road until now. I like this "behavior". Motorcycle guys always greet each other, it's a nice thing.

I do it. Here in SoCal, I mostly get confused looks, though.

No, I hate people who drive Porsches, even myself.

Peace sign here.

On a side note some kids in a WRX were giving me some kind of hand signal I don't understand, index and middle fingers together, like a closed peace sign or something. Google doesn't know that one either.

From Porsche Excellence magazine:
Many seem to think so. In the October ’08 issue of Excellence magazine, a reader wrote a letter to the editor asking, “Is the Porsche Salute no longer in vogue? It’s definitely not in use in my area any longer…” The editor responded that he “suspect[ed] the sheer number of Porsches on the road today has something to do with it,” adding, “a couple of times a year… I am flashed by another Porsche driver. I’m usually so surprised I end up staring back blankly!” My Dad agrees. “Once upon a time, if you drove a Porsche and saw another, you offered a greeting. And if someone in a Porsche waved at you in yours, you acknowledged the wave gracefully.” He added, “if a driver took the time to wave at you, he or she was essentially saying, “I like the car, I believe in it!”

This is something new for me, hence the thread. I've thought about it but never got to experience it, until now.

I try to flash but sometimes wave if my hand is in a place where that's more convenient. Previous owner told me about the flash when I was test driving the car and a 964 drove by and flashed its lights. I definitely notice that the newer the car, the less likely they are to make a gesture, and agree with Doc's point about the sports cars.

I actually get as many waves/thumbs up from S2000's and other German cars (e.g., Golf R's, Audi RS's) as P-cars.
