Sometimes buyers (myself included) read past the mods. They see track color wheels, and tow hooks and they automatically think abused track rat.

I can see past this once I see it in person, but I will only get that far if its near by.

If I were to sell that car i would:
- buy some silver twists, toss some good tires on it, or refinish those and add Porsche center caps
- remove side lettering
- remove windshield lettering
- remove tow hook(s)
- remove tint strip at top of windshield
- remove cage (maybe)
- if headlights are tinted: remove/polish

If its setup for track, own it and sell it accordingly. If its a clean street car....present it as such. Either way, its a sexy car and will sell.

No but they'd take 5k off the bid to un**** them. More if that grey is a wrap.

All of the above in progress. Stock wheels are gone for refinish. I'll sell the orange ones.

The car was used for some lapping days and far from abused. But I know what you mean about perception of tracked cars.....I don't get it, these cars were built for this purpose and if they are abused and neglected it will quickly show. But my experience with guys who occasionally track their cars, myself included, highly maintain their cars.

A car that has seen the track can often mean a great car. My car is a good example. I like intelligently tracked cars. Maintenance is generally far better than any other cars out there, and you can stand on the go or stop pedal and not risk the car falling apart because it has been rotting in someones garage and hasn't had a fluid change in 5 years.

The random operation of the universe may well deliver the exact buyer who intends to redo all those mods. Odds are, it won't and the stock configuration gives you the biggest 'net' to draw in prospects.

I concur, but oh man . . .

Had you posted this in here a couple of years, you'd have been eviscerated by now. This is a place where 50k miles on a 15 year old car is considered high mileage. Just driving a car at all becomes blasphemy, much less actually (gasp ) taking it on a track.

If Porsche built the 996 Turbo for this purpose, then why did they exclude initial warranty coverage if the car was tracked?

What do you think happens at the track?

Ask them. While you're at it, find a warranty that covers track work.

I don't need to. You're the one with the question, so you can ask them.
