Seriously, no one cares. Even if you wanted them to care -- they don't. Drive what you want.

You will have a total of 0 people thinking you are obnoxious.

You will however have hundreds of people saying that you're only in a 996 because you can't afford a 997 😀

Its all noise!

People will judge you for anything. I'm 6 foot 4 and 275 pounds and I get more "wtf" or disgusted or snide comments from people than I care to mention. At the end of the day, do what makes you happy. It's their problem for drawing conclusions in the first place. Place too much emphasis on what other people think and eventually you'll forget what you even loved in the first place.

All that aside, the 996TT is a ****ing incredible machine - especially for the money you pay for it.

This is what I drive when I'm with my Ford Homeys, and when I want to get noticed. First thing I noticed when driving my TT is some only recognized it as a Porsche, while those in the know recognized it as a TT....

I have a grey 2003 996tt and also a red 1965 mustang fastback. My son driving the mustang and I driving the turbo pulled in to cars and coffee. My son was waived to a reserved spot up front. I was told "think there's some porsches parked back there somewhere". In my opinion a 996tt although a fantastic machine is not flashy. Especially in seal grey.

Who knew some of us were Ford freaks as well. I'd agree with the others, my 1966 Mustang K code fastback gets more attention than my guards red 996TT. Probably because there are so many Porsches in the area and most just see it as another regular Porsche. Either that or because the Mustang is louder.

This is my personal tribute to the original Cobra Caravan-my Fauxbra Caravan. Pulled into a Wendy's with a bunch of exotic cars, the usual-Ferraris etc. Lady came out of a van and Commented on my Fastback. I told her to check out the other cars in my cruise, she said she dint know what they were, but knew what the Mustang was...

Ps-whine time-I must admit, sometimes I'm kinna disappointed at the reaction to the TT at meet ups most people just don't appreciate what it is. But that's ok. Why I got it-low key super car. Don't want to call undue attention to it,usually..but then there are times I want to Scream out-people, look at this one...sorry....
