Default Porsche NA car cover UNDERWHELMED

So I purchased an OEM cover and I must say I was very underwhelmed. Seems not very soft and for the price, not what I was looking for. I know, dumb question but with its fabric, and not fleece lined in the least, will it not leave even the faintest scratches, even while sitting quietly in the garage? I have a CAlifonia Car Cover brand for my 930 and maybe I should have just bought one of those. The part number is PNA50599601. Anyelse have this experience? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I was thinking of getting one. I know you supplied the part number but was it the indoor cover? I would have assumed that it would have been the silky lined stretch material which is the my Maserati OEM cover is made of.

It's the indoor one. I received a quick reply from the eBay seller and believe it's the correct cover, claims he's sold 100s of these with no complaints and offered a refund or exchange for a different one. Maybe it's simply a matter of not meeting expectations but also knowing that just because it is a OEM Porsche part, doesn't mean it's the best. I'm curious if others have the same experience...

Don't know about the oem" indoor" but my own outdoor shredded at the seams long before it should have.

It could have been exacerbated by the strosek wing but still it shouldn't have torn so easily.

I need another also but won't get oem again.

You can not go wrong with California Car Cover, have had them for every car, including have them do a few cars that needed custom dimensions.

I think that's the same cover I got from suncoast (tri-guard) for less than $100 and I haven't had any issues. Material isn't super soft, but is still quite soft. I'm just careful with the see through flex-plastic part for the license plate and the tag that's stitched on the edge (near the front bumper I think?) since those were the things I thought could potentially scratch or leave swirl marks.

My porsche 997tt indoor cover has a soft inner lining, perhaps different than a 996 version?

I have a triguard for my TT and it is fine. Like it was said before, the license plate window stitching seems to be the only area where there might be the potential for any possible scratching, the rest of the cover is pretty nice and fits really well, but IMO it is not really an outdoor cover.

I also had a silverguard cover for my 996 C4S that was much more of an outdoor cover and it had some soft felt placed at 6 locations underneath it. The hood, trunk, and all 4 fenders got this treatment but the rest was just the backside of the silver cover material and I never had any scratches from it.

Both covers have fit my cars really nicely and both had the mirror pockets. I consider those a must on any outdoor cover even for a car in a carport as the wind can rather quickly remove the cover otherwise.

The OEM cover I have for the Turbo is basically silk outside and EXTREMELY soft on the inside. If this cover does not feel soft to you, then you must think Cashmere and Brillo pads have the same feel haha! Here is mine. Link to where I bought it. It is not cheap, but you will be impressed. Even says "996 turbo" in the script lettering by the front lip, so you can distinguish it from all of the other cars in your collection..

Yep, definately not the same one I have. There is no security tether with the one I have as when you touch it you could see why. It would not be very hard to rip it as it is so soft. Small knife would go through it like butter. But that is a good thing, because softness... Oh and the one I have comes with a little vinyl zippered duffel bag to put it in that even has a little tag that tells what car its for hahah. Damn well should for almost $400.

I have two of those for both of my P-cars. No problem with scratching/swirling the paint. I have a black and silver car.
