I went with a yakima set-up that mounts up directly to the Porsche mounting points.

I had both oem and Yakima. Both are fine and get the job done. Preference is for Yakima simply on aesthetics. It’s slimmer and closer to the roof than oem.

I knew there was a safe, and practical, way to carry children with a 996 that removed their sticky little hands from touching the interior.
